You will be missed, thanks for being a good friend to others and remember you from a mutual acquaintance whose Titanic parties were and still are legendary.
You left us too soon.

I met Charles in 1986, shortly after I moved to San Francisco. He was a new analyst at Dodge & Cox and I was a new salesman covering his account from Salomon Brothers. Charles was not only brilliant but a kind, wonderful person and I always enjoyed talking with him. He was also an avid tennis player and I had a chance to play with him a few times. I think he always won. Charles you are a terrific guy and I am saddened by your passing.
Sincerely, David Foster

I was terribly saddened to hear of Charles´ passing.
I first met Charles as a fellow undergraduate back at the University of Chicago and do fondly recall many good times spent together with him and our dormitory cohort, especially the countless, extended discussions - sometimes energetic, usually humorous, always enriching - typically begun in the dining hall and often continuing into the wee hours back at Chamberlin House. Since those college days, I was fortunate to have spent a bit more time socially with Charles on a few occasions.
Above and beyond his many career accomplishments, I will remember Charles as a kind, caring, and intelligent person, always finding himself in the company of many good friends, just as had been the case back in college. And, most importantly, I am especially happy to see that he was surrounded with the loving warmth of a wonderful family.
I wish his family and friends comfort and peace.

I'm a so sorry to read of Charles' passing, way too young. I met many times with Charles when I was a sell side analyst in the 90s and early 2000s. He always struck me by his quiet and gentle kindness, open minded, skeptical, smart, but never mean. Truly one of the best. My sincere condolences to his family.

I worked for Charles for five years, from 2020 through early 2025. He was by far the most professional and respectful manager I´ve have the pleasure of supporting. Charles is one of those rare professionals who brings out the best in everyone who crosses paths with him. He inspired greatness even in illness. I am forever grateful to have crossed paths with this kind and brilliant man.

I met Charles when he was a young analyst at Dodge & Cox and I was a young salesman at Bear Stearns. Charles had a brilliant mind and I was always so impressed with both his intellect and his general friendly personality. I witnessed the remarkable growth in AUM that Dodge & Cox achieved through the years and Charles had a lot to do with that. I will miss him greatly and my condolences go out to his family and his many friends at Dodge & Cox! RIP my friend. Bob Morie

What a beautiful obituary! We are in awe of the way Charles continued to live a rich life, even after his diagnosis. This choice is a testament to the strength of his character and his conviction. It is a reminder to all of us that we should live our lives with similar passion and determination. He was a man of so many accomplishments, the greatest of which was his wonderful marriage and his three beautiful children. Sending all our love to you four ladies and your extended family. Charles was clearly a very loved man and at the end of the day that is the only gift that truly matters !
