Donna,
Very sorry to hear of Charlie'
s passing. He really gave his all to all of us on Cow Island. Without Charlie, I would have had a rough time keeping my place up

We will all miss my sweet and funny uncle - baby of 11, if you needed a laugh you could count on him. So full of mischief and so full of love we were all so lucky to have him in our lives. If you didn't get his pipe smoke blown in your face. You just missed out. Will walk with you one day on the streets of gold. Thank you for loving us so much.

R.I.P Grannpi, you will forever be in my heart! I'll never forget the trip we made to see y'all at the lake, the smell of your pipe and your laugh! I look forward to the day we meet again! My deepest sympathy to aunt Donna and family! I love you all.

He was a true friend and a great guy. I will miss the smell of that pipe every time I go to the lake. God bless him.

How do you sum up the life of a good man who has lived almost a century? Not just by facts but by watching him live that life and the lessons you try to take from it. A few of mine were: 1. Keep going forward no matter how hard it is. Persevere. 2. It is up to you to make your life better nobody will do it for you. Dad was a hard worker, often working 3 jobs at once when we were kids. 3. Don't whine. Daddy never whined, (a little rage now and then, but no whining.) 4. Live your life so you are never ashamed to look at yourself in the mirror, (a direct quote). 5. Never let your funny bone break. Dad was ALWAYS quick with the comebacks. Last week before we left to go home to NJ, we went to have breakfast with him. He was tired and wanted to nap instead. I told him, We will see you next week. He responded, I'm not planning on that long a nap. 6. Mind your manners. A BIGGIE for us kids! Even in his last days he kept to that. When we had a family visit last week, (5 of us together), He told us I really enjoyed seeing you. Thanks for coming. But I am tired now and want to go to bed. 7. Enjoy your life and the people in it, no matter the circumstances. Dad enjoyed his life even when it became smaller due to his health failing. As long as he had something to read, (he loved reading), Wheel of Fortune to watch on TV, his pipe to smoke, and his wife Donna, he was good. You're no longer in the world Daddy, but you are forever in our souls.

Uncle Charles was truly an example for us all. His quick wit and loving demeanor was always present. The thing that impressed me the most was his ability to know when to say something or when to bite his pipe stem and just grin!! We all love you Uncle Charles and will miss you GREATLY!!!

Our dear friend will be missed and never forgotten. We thank him for his help and kindness over several decades. Our cars always smelled of his pipe. We were welcome anytime with our 5 babies to visit Cow Island. He always was happy to see us. He gave so much love and we are so grateful to have had such a wonderful friend. We loved him so!
