Jigger, I googled your name and just found out about your passing. In the 60s I lived in the house right across Baldwin Place from you. You were a good friend to me and I've always had fond memories of you. It doesn't surprise me that you developed a love for sailing; I remember trips down to the yacht club when we were little boys. Rest in peace, buddy.

I just found out you were gone, I tried to find you too late. There were things I wanted to talk with you about. I wanted to get to know you better. I remember when I was 6 years old and I was angry at some one about going off somewhere when they promised to spend time with me and I cried and cried. I ran upstairs to my room and you came up after me and calmed me down. Someone was supposed to take me to McDonald's that day and you took me instead. We walked up West Clifton and over onto Sloane Ave over to that McDonald's and you bought me a cheeseburger happy meal. You talked a lot, gave me advice (you loved doing that, a lot) made me laugh and made my pain go away. You did that quite a few times for me when I was a child. You took me Ice Skating with one of your girlfriends once when I was in another similar situation. I remember going sailing quite a few times with you and Doug (the Suzi Q's, lol). I just wanted to say to you how much I loved you as a child and how much I wish I could have gotten to know you as an adult but never did. I was going to try and do that. Someday we will meet again and we will go sailing and I will skipper the boat this time and listen to you talk and talk again (you loved to do that a lot too). As a child you were one of my Heroes. You will be missed. RIP Uncle Jigger, with love, Courtney.

I met Charles through a bull terrier forum on Facebook. We didn't always see eye to eye, but it was always clear that he loved his dog, Rex -- and many of us fell in love with him, too. Charles made a terrific poster based on the "I Want YOU!" poster, using Rex in place of Uncle Sam. With Charles's permission, I added wording in support of BT rescue. I saw that image on Facebook a few months ago. I hope Charles did as well and realized how his art, and his Rex, were helping others. I hope he finds Rex on the other side, so they can be together again.

I grew up across the street on West Clifton Blvd. It was not until the 80's that we realized I was that older girl sitting on the porch and you were that young kid with his dog playing in the yard. What a handsome, talented fellow you grew to be. I will always remember the good times at CYC. Rest in peace Jigger.

“May He support us all the day long, till the shades lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then in His mercy may He give us a safe lodging, and a holy rest and peace at the last.” --John Henry Cardinal Newman
Sorry to see you go Chas. There was so much I wanted to speak with you about.

R.I.P., my old friend. It's funny: I had a dream last night I was back in my old neighborhood and all my old friends, you, Dave, Tom, Rob, Skip were all there and we were adults talking about the old days. I guess you were saying goodbye to me. Sail On Sailor! You are now finally ready to dock.

I was in Boy Scouts with Chuck when I was a kid back in the early 70s. He was one of the older guys we younger ones looked up to. One time, he made a big slingshot using a funnel and surgical tubing that could launch a water balloon 150 yards. They called it Jigger's giant jock strap. Silly, but a very good and fun memory. I'm so sorry to learn he has left us so soon. My sincere condolences to all he left behind. Paul Lawson
