I did not know that Chuck had passed until I saw the notice in the current issue today of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Journal. We were good friends at Miami , even roommates Senior year in the Ward Realty House. We had a few " mini reunions " after college , the last one being 2008 back in Oxford. Chuck and I last talked in September 2019 , after the death of Mick Doran, our good friend and roommate.
God Bless You, CJ ! I hope to see you in heaven .

I know firsthand how difficult it is to lose one's spouse, even if their passing is merciful because of the life they were forced to lead because of the malady that finally took their life. My thoughts and prayers are with you Karen.

I first met Chuck when he and Karen visited me when I was living in Chicago in the mid-70´s. He was a nice guy, pleasant disposition, and we shared some interests - bicycles, motorcycles, and sailing. Time went by and Karen & Chuck got married and we got better acquainted at Muth family get-togethers at Rehobeth Beach, in Potomac, MD, Seabrook, TX, Sun City West, AZ, and an Alaskan cruise, etc. Chuck was always an active participant at these gatherings, very much a family guy - good father to Charlie growing up, and later as a grandfather to CJ and Kyle. He was also very active in the community, volunteering at AARP helping folks with their taxes, at Habitat for Humanity helping people building and repairing homes, and getting running water to families in Central America. I could go on, but I´ll just say that Chuck was always good company, and we miss him.

This is a special picture I saw on Facebook of Chuck and his first grandchild out fishing... there is no place else C.J. would rather be then fishing with his granddad! What a wonderful husband, dad, father-in-law, and friend!

I got to know Chuck many years ago working with him at our Habitat projects here in Baytown. He was a great roll-up-your-sleeves guy and very capable in solving problems an getting things done---all with a great sense of humor. We also had AARP TaxAide in common. We shared similar "war stories" in that regard, too, and I know he was a definite asset to that program as well. Always with a positive outlook it was a great pleasure to know and spend time with Chuck. I have not known Karen as long, but what a wonderful blessing she was to Chuck during his illness. Wonderful friends! I will miss Chuck's always positive outlook on life! Rest in peace, my friend!

Uncle Chuck was the embodiment of "a life well-lived." Reading this beautiful tribute demonstrates that clearly and has me reflecting on how he had a life that many strive for: he had meaningful connections with family and friends, built a sense of community and gave back to others, had enriching personal hobbies, and a love of travel. Some of my favorite memories of him were from our family reunions, or when he made time to see my husband and me in Pittsburgh ahead of a long bike ride down to DC, or being so genuinely excited for us to start a family and making the effort with Aunt Karen to travel out to VA to celebrate at our baby shower. Our deep condolences to my Aunt Karen, Charlie, Loren, CJ, and Kyle, who he loved so much. He was loved and will be missed! Emily, Brad, and Zoe Gravolet

I remember one night I ran into Chuck and Karen in the parking lot outside a favorite restaurant. I was a little hesitant about college choices for my youngest. It was late, after dark, and instead of rushing home they both stood and talked with me about schools and options and were encouraging and hopeful. He was the very best friend my Dad could ask for

I worked with Chuck for many years at the AARP TaxAide program. He was a great asset to that program and a hell of a nice guy! RIP Chuck.

Having met Karen and Chuck while living in Tulsa in the 80's and having started our families at the same time we spent many happy hours at the lake in Tulsa enjoying their sailboat with our young ones in tow! Their generosity was always so amazing and fun times were had by all in those busy times.

I received the honors of meeting Chuck and Karen back in August of 2023 to be apart of his caregiving team. It was really hard to call what I did for him as work, he made the environment relaxed, enjoyable, and shared a ton of stories during my time with him. Chuck never failed to make me laugh, and had a good sense of humor about him and his disease. He would love to tell me he was going to "kick me" when I did something he didn´t like, knowing all too well he couldn´t and laugh while he tried. Always having a sense of humor about him even through the pain. I got the pleasure of knowing his family really well, and his grand babies were his joy! Daily updates and photos of those two boys and how proud he was. Chuck saw something in me that I struggled to see in myself, he was good like that. Encouraging me to go further in the field I´m in is because of him and Karen. I wouldn´t be where I am now if it wasn´t for them. I´m forever touched and greatful to have been apart of his life and having the honors of being trusted with his level of care. He is missed by so many, but I´m writing this because he is missed by me. He made many waves, and touched many lives. I pray that his memory continues on for many many years.

The Jones´ Family was instrumental in helping me transition from college to my professional career and beyond in Clear Lake. They are some of the most generous and giving people I know. Chuck will be missed by all who knew him

I will always remember the way Chuck welcomed me into the larger, extended "family" at Christmas in 2002. He was always so kind, funny, and generous with all of us. I am thankful to have known him and I am so sorry for the family's loss.

Charlie loved to tell stories of his life in Ohio with us at the pool. We enjoyed making that connection with he and Karen. They always had a smile for everyone.
