Charles A. Jones

Charles Jones, or "Buddy" as he was affectionately known, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and faith. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family and those whose lives were touched by him.

Buddy grew up and raised his family in Weymouth. In his early years, he worked long hours as a self-employed plumber to support his wife and three daughters and ensure their well-being. He became the Plumbing Inspector for Weymouth, known for his expertise and strict but fair enforcement of regulations.

Buddy was a long time Red Sox fan and rarely missed a game. Buddy had a special bond with his mother-in-law "Nana" Griffin, also a big Red Sox fan who always baked sweet treats for him and the family. Buddy enjoyed getting together for breakfast with his late brother Billy over the years. During retirement, Buddy loved to travel with his wife Ginny, enjoying cruises together traveling to many countries. He especially loved his time at Half Moon Lake in Alton, New Hampshire, relaxing on the beach and providing tubing rides on his boat for his loving grandchildren. The family has many cherished memories of visiting the lake over the years. Buddy also enjoyed winters on Marco Island, FL with his beloved wife. He loved riding his bike every morning around the island, always taking a break to take in the sights with a cup of coffee.

Buddy had a profound impact on his family, inspiring values around family, hard work, and honesty. His presence was welcoming, quiet, gentle, and peaceful. He was a loving and thoughtful husband, father, and grandfather, with an endearing dry sense of humor enjoyed by all who knew him.

Dad/Papa/Buddy will always be admired for his dedication to his family. The family is so grateful for sharing a full and long-lived life. His memory lives on with children Patty Jones Matthews and her husband Tony Matthews, Pam Jones and Paula Jones Drury and her husband Brian Drury, grandchildren Kayla and her husband Reed, Anthony, Jason, Gabi, Jake, Jill, and Justin, and eagerly awaited his first great grandchild to-be, Josie. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Virginia "Ginny" Jones, his sister Hellen Loiurio, and his brother William "Billy" Jones.

The Jones family expresses their warm gratitude to the truly exceptional staff at Rose Court Continuing Care at Linden Ponds for their dedication and loving care provided to Buddy during his last few weeks of life. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Staff Appreciation Fund at Rose Court, 300 Linden Ponds Way, Hingham, MA 02043.
