I was so sorry to hear of Buddy's passing this past Janurary, I met Buddy on a few occasions and he was very nice. My father said he was his 2nd cousin and that my uncle Sonny and him had raced together for some time. I hope now that some time has passed the grief is not so great.

A great childhood friend and great race driver. Buddy and I were introduced to midget auto racing at "Cherry Park Speedway" (Avon,CT) by Mrs. Tischofer (Buddy's mother) on my 16th birthday in 1946. I shall never forget that sunday.

Buddy and I cruised Main Street (in Hartford)in my dad's '37 Packard and somtimes in his uncles Wyllis/Knight roadster. He had the license to drive, I didn't. It was pure, outrageous FUN!!

I played guitar (terribly) in Buddy's first band (he played trumpet, very well). we were almost thrown out of the venue on burnside avenue, Buddy's sister Patty, was also in the band. I believe I was to blame, for strumming out of tune, the band broke up after one gig/dance, everyone on the dance floor danced a different step. It was either me, or the drummer!

My heart is heavy from the loss of our racing hero and good friend! He is watching over you Sibel & Robin, from the "Speedway In The Sky" and God is holding the "Checkered Flag". Love & prayers, Tony Cardoza

In the summer of 1963 I along with my brother and mother were spending the summer with my uncle in Palmer, Mass. My uncle was Beebe Zalenski, builder and chief mechanic on the Walker Motor Sales M-6. Every Saturday night we were at Riverside Park cheering on our driver Dick Dixon. I was 10 years old at the time. There was only one car I feared every race night, Buddy Krebs in car number 19. So many fond memories. Rest in peace. Stanley Cogdill

Dear Sibyl & Robin,

The passing of Buddy came as quite a shock to us. We and our children have very fond memories of Buddy & you. We told Laurie & Kathy and they extend their sympathies. They both remember it was Robin that taught them to read.

We remember how he loved his little friend "Charley". Now Buddy can be with him again.

He (and you)was the best neighbor that anyone could have had. Buddy was the best.

Much love.

Dear Krebs Family,

I spent many Saturday nights of my childhood at Riverside Park watching my hero beat the field and put a smile on my face that he won again. My dad worked on the "10 pins" and I was thrilled as a kid to be in such great company as Buddy, Sibyl and Robin. Although many years have pasted since I have seen you, pictures of the 10 and memories of a wonderful childhood that Buddy helped to make for me still cover my family room wall. Buddy will live in the memory of many and never be forgotten. We all should feel that our life is richer as Buddy was a part of it. God Bless you all.

To the Krebs Family:

Our deepest sympathy to you from our family. I have such fond memories of watching Buddy race at Riverside Park with my mom, dad and sister. We went faithfully on Saturday nights and spent the next day hardly able to talk after a night of cheering on our Buddy who was the family favorite !

My only regret is that I never had the privilege to meet and know him. Now my parents can watch him race once again in heaven.

My father was friends with Buddy for years. His name is Dalbert Ameil and he is deaf. He now lives in Florida and I read of Buddy's passing and got word to him and he was saddened of the news and wanted me to post an entry to say he will miss him and had good times with him.

Buddy, I grew up watching you race at riverside park, and you were my hero. To me there was no greater champion on and off the track. I didn't get to know you until many years after when you befriended my dad bernie, at the many breakfast do drop in's. Thank you for shareing fond memories with us and for the the many checkered flags and thrilling races around New England tracks. I know you will have plenty of company up in heaven talking fishing and raceing with dad, eddie, bob, and all the others who have gone to the final flag before you.
