Charles Safford Laubly, Sr. October 3, 1916 - April 11, 2006 He passed away peacefully at TMC Hospice after a brief illness due to complications from Parkinson's disease. He was born in Oak Park, IL and lived in Maywood, IL during his youth. During the Depression he worked as a golf caddy at various country clubs to help support his family. He became a great golfer and loved the game. He is preceded in death by his parents, mother Ida (nee Safford) and father, Charles H. Laubly, and brother, Earl Laubly (Frances). He enlisted in the Army and served during World War II. He served in the Malaria Unit as a medic in the Philippines and New Guinea. He graduated from Georgia Tech, earning his B.S. in Industrial Engineering. He worked for Kemper Insurance and later for Celanese Corporation in Manhattan, NY. He was revered in his field for his outstanding work as an Industrial Hygienist. In 1977 he took early retirement from Celanese and moved from Summit, NJ to Tucson to be near to his grown children. He was passionate about his family, photography, stamp collecting, building furniture, lapidary and ice skating. He taught all of his children to ice skate in the pond behind their home in Old Bridge, NJ. He traveled throughout the world and sent postcards to all of his children. He is survived by his children, Laura Laubly-Coleman (Thomas), Delia Laubly, Darrell Laubly (Tracy) of Tucson and Charles S. Laubly, Jr. (Jeannette) of Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren, Casey Yeaton, Shawn Kuykendall, Christina Laubly of Tucson and Lindsay DuFresne-Laubly and David Charles DuFresne-Laubly of Grand Junction, CO. In lieu of flowers the family requests gifts to be sent to TMC Hospice Services, 5301 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, AZ, 85712 or the Ronald McDonald House of Tucson, 2230 E. Speedway Blvd., Tucson, AZ, 85719. "Better days are coming." Dad we miss you. As per instructions no services. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.
