I met Chuck through Mary Anne. I spoke to him on the phone several times before meeting him and, frankly, was intimidated by his powerful voice. I thought, is he friendly? We´ll, of course that all changed when I met him. Chuck was a sweetheart.

I´ll never forget how he would come home from shooting and walk into the dining room where Mary Anne and her Mah Jongg friends were playing. He would talk about history, the Chesapeake Bay and where he grew up.

Ten days before Chuck passed, Mary Anne and I went to visit him in the hospital. He had lost a lot of weight but his cheerful booming voice said it all. Chuck was feeling better. We talked about boating and the treacherous Kent Narrows. He sang the "Tennessee Walking Horse" song and I danced. He talked about shooting five stand and his hunting safaris. What an interesting and competent man.

Chuck and Mary Anne loved each other dearly and were best friends.

Rest In Peace Chuck,

Bev

Chuck and I were fraternity brothers in the '60s and remained in touch for the remainder of our lives. This is sad, sad news indeed.

Chuck was part of the Breakfast club every Sunday near DCFS. Chuck was an outstanding conversationalist and always had a good story to tell. We will miss him dearly and his memory will live on with all of us.
My heartfelt condolences go out to Mary Anne and all of the Mannix family. Peace be with you all.

Dear MaryAnne,
You and Chuck were first our neighbors then fantastic friends. Our travel experiences together have filled my memory with images to cherish. Bob and Chuck kept us busy.
I send you love and prayers as you make your way through this time of grief. Even as you and Chuck comforted me so I hope you will find peace.
With sincere condolences, Sue.
