Dear May Lynn and family, I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I will always remember your gracious hosting of me when I was looking at colleges many decades ago. My mom was especially fond of you both. May your happy memories of time together be a solace for you.
Much love
Jenny

Mrs. Mansbach and family. I recently found out the news about Dr. Mansbach's passing. I was saddened, but had good memories working for him for my first job as a medical secretary back in 1973 for he and Jerry Feldman at the VA Medical Center in Durham. I transcribed many medical and research reports for him. We both had a laugh one day when a GI patient of his needed a refill of his prescription and sent a letter addressed to "Dr. Chicken Scratch" .. Chief of GI. I had no problem reading Dr. Mansbach's handwriting but apparently the patient did. I am now retired but volunteer my time as an English As A Second Language teacher with a M.Ed. in Training and Development form NCSU. Working with Dr. Mansbach will always be a good memory for me. I remember seeing you bring the three boys in to the office and your gathering them together like a mother hen. They are all grown now, but may you and the boys have good memories.

I feel priveleged to have know "Charlie" as a colleague and fellow researcher at UTHSC and the VA Medical Center. I cannot recall seeing him without his characteristic smile that made everyone feel special and happier. His intellect, wit, medical skills and especially his humanity were unparalleled. Charles will be missed by many and we are diminished by his loss. My prayers are with his family and love ones.

As a child I grew up across the street from the Mansbach family and wish to send my condolences to both Tommy and Sally. I have such fond memories of Harry and Marie. I want them to know that my husband and I are living about 6 blocks away from Shirland Ave. in the Algonquin House., the only high rise in the area. I am now 87 years old and am still fairly active. My sympathy goes to the entire Mansbach family during this sad time.

Mrs. Mansbach and family - I'm deeply saddened by the loss of my beloved mentor Dr. Mansbach. He was more than a mentor who cared about me as much as my mother could do shaped my life and career he'll always be my mentor and of course, a source of much of the little I know.
It was really fun to be around him at any given time as he used to enjoy discussing science for hours his fervor for research was contagious
His unstinting passion and enthusiasm for science, his integrity, his love and compassion for others that he left are the legacy we'll always cherish and try to emulate.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family!

May Lynn, Sally and Tommy,
I am very sad to hear of Charles illness and recent death. I remember my visit many years ago to Duke and your generous and friendly welcome. I really didn't know Charles the way I know Tommy and Sally, but he sounds like he was a wonderful person. May many happy memories be with you...

We are very saddened by this loss. My heart is heavy with grief; this is truly a great loss to us. I enjoyed working under his mentorship for many years. My days start and end to talk with him about science. Dr. Mansbach will be profoundly missed; he was such an extraordinary person, carried unparalleled enthusiasm for research; always generous with ideas and technique, he celebrated his life everyday by doing what he loved Research. Even, when he was in the hospital due to his illness, he loved to spent hours to talk and work about his research; unbelievable dedication towards science. The scientific community has lost an important figure and we have all lost a great colleague, mentor and friend. Dr. Mansbach will be remember as an extraordinary person, educator, collogue and a great scientist. Our prayers, thoughts, and love are with you and your loved ones. God will give you strength and comfort.
