Charles Harvey Markham, 82, went home to be with the Lord and his wife, JoAnne, on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at his home in Brown Summit.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM , Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, October 20th from 6:00—8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Charles loved his family and children more than anything, but his love for Dale Earnhardt was a close second. He had a soft spot for animals, especially horses, labs and black cats. He could frequently be found driving his Gator, Jeep, or watching the Young and the Restless. Charles had a loving, giving soul, and he will be remembered for his wisdom and willingness to give.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Thelma Aycock Markham; wife, JoAnne Markham and son-in-law, Jeffrey Shaver.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Audra Markham and Lisa Shaver; son, Charles Kerry Markham; grandchildren, Brianna Markham (Daniel), Kayleigh Hoeft (Michael), Michael Dale Early, Jr. (Whitney), Morgan Haines (Joseph), Steven Hyler (Lovey), Jeremy Hyler, Melissa Hyler, Leslie Adair (Chris), Jennifer Degroot (Tim), Sylvia Mapili (Orlando); 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Sanders; niece, Sarah Bock (Owen); special friends, Henry Chapman, Ginger Shaver, Donnie Whitfield, in addition to many family and friends in the Joanne Moore Markham family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rockingham County Animal Shelter, 250 Cherokee Camp Road Reidsville, NC 27320
