Claire

Although the many miles separating us meant that I only had the privilege of meeting my uncle Charlie face to face a few times, his gentle-yet-strong nature had such a positive influence on me. He certainly passed on a love of barbeques and prawns! I will treasure the memories of going hunting for some exotic musical instrument in the wilds of outer Brisbane, or the telegram, in Croatian, that he and Kati sent Helena and I which was read out on our wedding night almost 25 years ago.

Thank you for being such a caring person and enabling us all to share as much time with him as possible, I know his mother, Grandma Annie, would be so proud of your exemplary efforts. Charlie's life will be remembered by many in so many ways, he will be sadly missed but not gone from our hearts.

Richard, Helena, Katrina.

Dear Claire,

I was sorry to hear that your father has passed away. He had a remarkable talent for woodworking and building unique and ingenious things. I am sure he will be greatly missed.

Claire,

Charles certainly has had an impact on me. I'll always remember his courage and persistance. His passing will certainly be hard on you but he wouldn't want that.

Dear Claire,

I am terribly sorry to hear about you Dad. Thanks for telling me. Somehow, part of me is now gone too but part of him is also here, as with all those who loved and cared about him.

Charlie could not have wished for a better daughter and I know how much he appreciated and loved you. He would be happy that he will be with your Mum.

He was a good friend for so many years and will be sorely missed by us both.

I hope it is at least some help to you to know that we care.

Love,

Len and Isabel.

Dear Claire

Please accept my condolences. Charles' passing will be a difficult time for you and your extended family, his courage and persistance in the face of personal adversity is a beacon for us all to emulate. Let Thursday be a day to celebrate Charles's life and to remember your mother too, let there be music and thanks for a unique man, sometimes it's good to be Australian.

Vale Charles

Charles Marson

It was truly a privilege and an honour to have known the three generations of the Vita-Marson family. It all started in April 1970 when I began working at Allan Beverages as secretary to Mr. Andrew Vita. A series of events later lead me to share the Kati Vita and Charles Marson London home with their lovely two children, Colin and Claire while I was on a working holiday there in 1975. They treated me like one of the family and I was included in outings to theatres and art galleries and even a camping trip to Cornwall and Penzance. I hold fond and dear memories of those times, their warm friendship, their generosity, their support and their love.

Back in Montreal, the bond only became more solid and the family made sure I visited and shared a lunch or a dinner with them as often as possible and we updated each other on our life events and progress. If they did not hear from me, Kati or Claire would call and inquire how I was doing, always so keen in knowing what I was up to. When I visited, Charlie delighted in showing me the latest musical instrument he acquired, or the newest wood carving project he was working on, or the most beautiful flower or plant he cultivated. There was such love of life and such enthusiasm in everything he did!

“Sunshine fades and shadows fall”
“But sweet remembrances outlasts all”.

Farewell Charlie, may you rest in peace.

Charlie,

Thank you for the privilege of being able to call you Friend.
I always admired your wit and intelligence even for a Canadian-Australian. We shared many good times together and I wish that there had been more.

I have known the Marson family for only 30 years. I found Charlie to be a warm, giving and very incisive person with a keen intellect.

My prayers are with him and for his family

My Dear Sir Charles, what a great pleasure and honor it was to be your friend. I will surely miss our time together. What an outstanding gentleman you were.
You were, and will always be my favorite Aussie guy. Thank you for bringing me into the world of Opera, K-1, and Rugby...oh how I wish we had more time together.
Love Anne
