Charles P Meade

I worked with Charlie at Thornton Tomasetti and DeSimone.
He was a force to be reckoned with. Larger than life.
I will always remember our conversations and the opportunity he gave me to connect with him and so many talented people.

I grew up with Charlie & his family. We went to high school together. He and I were weight lifting partners for about 10 years. The Meades lived in a spectacular home in Glen Head with gorgeous grounds and a beautiful pool. There were country clubs, season tickets, private schools , cars and trips. And Charley, to his credit back then, was determined to enjoy every bit of it. He always felt if it was there, he was going to take advantage of it. I remember, this often put him in conflict with his Mother who was a very reserved and modest lady. Many times, especially in the Summer, I would happen upon Charley in the early morning asleep iand fully clothed n a lounge chair in the patio of his back yard. And I would ask him what was going on. And he said my Mother locked me out of the house again last night because I didnt make curfew. And I asked him, well what time did you come home? and He'd say, well, what time is it now? And we'd both laugh. And he'd say, do you think you could help me get inside the house, your'e here to see Paul, right? And I'd say, I'm not sure Charley I don't want to get into trouble too - so we'd go to the Diner for breakfast instead. It was a fun time in our lives . I remember Charley fondly as he was so full of life and had such an enormous appetite for life, even back as teenagers. He also had the courage and strength of character to overcome a skeletal issue and became a pretty good wrestler . My condolences to the family. I think of him and his parents all the time as they were important and happy part of my own youth.
