Charles Metternich Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 4, 2024.
Charles Allen "Chuck" Metternich, aged 49, passed away on November 8, 2023, in Saint Louis City, MO. Born on December 16, 1973, in Quincy, IL, Chuck grew into a kind and gracious man, known for his sympathetic nature and a bright, cheerful demeanor marked by a sarcastic wit that brought joy to those around him.

Chuck attended high school in Palmyra, MO, and proceeded to Graceland College in Lamoni, IA. He dedicated most of his adult life to working at The Mark Twain Casino Boat in LaGrange, MO, where his presence was a constant delight to his colleagues and guests.

Chuck was deeply connected to his roots and personal history, cherishing the memories of cub scouting and Civil War re-enactments with his father. A true sports enthusiast, he was a devoted fan of the Washington Commanders (formerly known as the Redskins), as well as the Mets and Cubs. His love for Star Trek branded him a proud "Trekkie," complementing his passion for gaming, movies, and fishing.

Sadly, Chuck was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents Charles and Edith Metternich, and his uncles, Roger and Gary Metternich. He is survived by his first cousin Tara Metternich, several second and third cousins, and many cherished friends who will miss his
lively spirit and loving presence.

A memorial service to celebrate Chuck's life will be held on July 6, 2024, at 10:00 am at David's Chamber, Camp Nauvoo. The service will be officiated by Evelyn Dustin. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, as seating at the provided picnic tables and benches may be limited. Contributions in memory of Chuck can be made at the service to Camp Nauvoo, with arrangements entrusted to Evelyn or Tim Dustin.

Hutchens Cremation Center in Florissant, MO is assisted with the cremation arrangements. Chuck's life, marked by resilience and joy despite personal losses, will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.
