Dear cousins my heart goes out to you all at the loss of your beloved father and grandfather and my uncle. He was to me, one of the nicest of my uncles, possibly because I was not around him when I was misbehaving as a youngster but I cannot ever remember even a stern word from him in my memory. The last time he was here that I got to spend time with him I gave him a Tigers baseball cap and I will always remember the enthusiasm he showed when he placed it on his head immediately after receiving it. I cannot begin to fathom your loss at this most difficult of lifes tragic events. Know that I like your other cousins here wish we could have been there with you to celebrate the life of our beloved Uncle and that we wish you all the best during these extremely trying times. We hope to see you all in the not too distant future.

To the Muller Family: I am so sorry to hear about your dad. He must of been a great man because his birthday date was the very same as mine, except for the year! I will keep you in my prayers during this difficult time, and hope God will provide you with comfort. ~Joan Carpenter (classmate with his daughter Thersa at Sacred Heart.)

Dear Family,
Charles was such a blessing to his friends and neighbors, as well as his family. And his reach was wide. He was forever generous with himself, his talents, time, and material resources.
Starting with our work in support of the United Farm Workers Movement in the 1970's, it was my honor to work alongside him in the community's efforts to extend peace and justice to all people. We shared a passion for such goals and worked together in the Sanctuary Movement, Pastors for Peace, BorderLinks, SOA Watch, and other endeavors. We turned to Charles for very practical help in this work and he never let us down.
I thank God for Charles and the blessing of knowing and working with him in the struggle to make the world a better place. He certainly leaves a rich and inspiring legacy for his family, friends and neighbors.
Mary Ellen and I send our love and prayers for God's comfort in the midst of this grief.
Sincerely,
Ken
