My college swim coach passed away this week, and I found out right after reading someones Facebook post with the question who was your best teacher. For me that was an easy question; it was my college swim coach Chuck Nanz. I learned more life lessons from him than in all my other classes at Clarion combined.
He taught his swimmers:
To make goals, short and long range
That perfect practice makes perfect
The concept that the team comes first
To believe in ourselves
That hard work would give us a chance to become champions
That Clarion swimmers carried themselves with class
To think like winners
The list could go on, but I know he was the reason that so many Clarion Swimmers went on to become so successful in life. I know on a personal note that coach kept me in school, and taught me to become a leader.
Coach you will be missed, but you will never be forgotten.
Your forever grateful swimmer,
Wags
