Charles Sloan "Chuck" Patton, III, 75, of Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 29 at home.
He was born May 5, 1936 in Watertown, NY, the son of the late Charles Sloan Patton, Jr. and Frances (Starbuck) Patton.
Chuck was a man of great faith; he loved the Lord Jesus Christ and he was an active member of Cornerstone Church of Augusta. His life reflected serving the Lord and others; he spent many years in ministry at local nursing homes, and various other ministries and his life influenced many people.
Chuck retired from Hopeman Brothers as a designer and he enjoyed spending time with family, friends and involving himself in "projects".
He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, of 44 years, Jean Bailes Patton.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a twin sister, Frances Davis and husband Curtis of Roanoke VA, four sons; Charles Sloan "Chip" Patton, IV and wife Cheryl of South Burlington, VT, Michael Randall "Mike" Patton and wife Cindy of Arlington, VA, James Randall "Randy" Fox and wife Lynn of Keswick, VA and Gregory Allen "Greg" Fox and wife Robbye of Olney, MD; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held on June 2, 2011, 2:00p.m., at Cornerstone Church of Augusta, 1156 Tinkling Spring Road, Staunton, with Pastor Greg Mayo and Pastor Whitney Critzer officiating.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cornerstone Church of Augusta-Debt Retirement, 1156 Tinkling Spring Road, Staunton, VA 24401.

Jean, I was so sad to read about Charlie's passing. I was actually looking for him on grandparents day at the Covenant School held a couple weeks ago. Charlie was always the nicest and kindest person. I still even remember him from Acme Visible Records as well as Hopeman Brothers. He would always have words of encouragement no matter what your problem was. My deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family. Doris and Peter Van Vleet
