Charles B. Poolson Jr., 86, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017.

He is survived by his longtime partner of 35 years, Jacqueline, his children, Charles (Christine), Deborah, James, Kelly (Barbara Besteni), and Claudia (Robert Kubek, MD), his two sisters, Mrs. O.J. Mader ("Peanut"), Mrs. Anthony Pitalo (Patricia), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and an extended family so large there is not be enough room to mention all of them here.

L'il Charlie was born in Bay St. Louis and lived there all his life. He was the third child of four children of Charles and Bernice Poolson.

Charlie graduated from St. Stanislaus College in 1949.

He retired from Stennis Space Center where he served as the Supervisor Over Facility Services Shops for 23 years. But that's just the tip of the iceberg of his life and accomplishments.

Charlie was a single dad before "single parenting" even had a name. He was quite the Renaissance Man who did everything from building kitchen cabinets, decks, and just about anything that needed building, to repairing motors on any vehicle.

In fact, he prided himself on the fact that no broken motor could defeat him. And his generosity was such that he would often stop by the side of the road to help stranded motorists whose cars had broken down.

And if grocery stores suddenly became obsolete, Charlie wouldn't miss a beat. He grew his own vegetables, canned his own produce, and would give most of it away.

He could also whip up meals that would put the Gulf Coast's best chefs to shame.

He was a simple man, a quiet man, with piercing blue eyes that revealed his depth and humility.

Charlie is now with his Lord, whom he loved and served through many years as a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

Visitation will be at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home, 110 S. Necaise Ave., Bay St. Louis, Friday, January 5th, Noon - 2:00 p.m. Prayer Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery immediately following.
