Charles you were my mentor, my professor, my friend. The gifts you gave me are priceless. You now water the trees and set our spirits free in this never ending cycle of life. Trice

I am shocked at the passing of such a wonderful man.... during his first year at Ursinus, I was a senior and his office intern... later that year I developed a medical condition and considered dropping out of college. He encouraged me to stay in school, work though my condition, and graduate. He told me "You will persevere... You will impact the futures of our future." I'll never forget those words. God bless you and thank God for you, Rev. Rice. Your legacy lives on....

Words can't express the feeling of loss. Charles Rice has a tremendous persona that impacted you from the moment you met him. To know him was to like him, and to meet him was to know him. I had the opportunity to meet Rev. Rice for the first time when he counseled my wife (Lynne Edwards) and me on our upcoming marriage. His words of wisdom and humor (I'm sure shared with so many others he married) gave comfort and reassurance to an excitably stressful time. I made lunch that day. He must have liked it because it persuaded him to bring his family to join us each year thereafter for our SuperBowl parties for the last 15 years. I may not have seen him for a year in between the last party, but it was always like yesterday when he, Tonya and the boys walked in (except the boys kept getting taller). It was always a great time and an honor to have their presence. One theme that Charles always expressed each year was that the 1969 SuperBowl III was not a fluke! He always looked forward to the rise of the New York Jets to the top of pro football once again. And when that day happens, I will look up and expressly think fondly of Rev. Rice because I know he will have something do with it.

Thank you dearly for being such an inspiration to my daughter during her freshmen year. I am truly saddened that she has lost such a great inspiration at college. Blessings to your family. I never met you but in speaking with my daughter I feel like I know you. You have truly touched many people. My daughter says you show and encourage them to think outside the box and to learn not just to get a good grade but to learn the materials. Your memory will be kept alive. Love to you in heaven and to your family.

Sending my love and condolences to the Rice family. Rev. Rice will be missed more than words can express and by more people than you will probably every know. I will keep you all in my prayers and pray that you will grow stronger every day as you reflect upon your years and memories together.. I got to know and love Rev. (Charles)Rice as we sat around the dinner table at my brother (Rev Cunningham and Liz's)home and later found out that he too was Greg's brother from a very young age. From that moment I too considered him my brother even though I met him later in life. I fine comfort in knowing he was a man of God and has gone home to be with God. God's blessing and comfort to you.
