Charles Ridenour Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 10, 2025.
Charles Larson "Chuck" Ridenour, 74, passed away on February 5, 2025, in Overland, Missouri.

Born on September 22, 1950, in London, Ohio, Chuck had a deep appreciation for history and nostalgia. His curiosity and love of learning shaped his life, leading him to explore a variety of interests. He was an avid collector, particularly drawn to antique radios, nostalgic toys and technology. His passion for discovery extended beyond objects-he found joy in sight-seeing, bird-watching, and stargazing, always eager to observe the world around him.

Many will remember him as 'Mr. Ridenour,' from his days of teaching. He was a dedicated educator who took great pride in guiding and mentoring his students. His commitment to their growth and success left a lasting impact that extended beyond the classroom.

Chuck was a devoted fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Ohio State football, cheering on his teams with enthusiasm (and sharing his disappointment when they lost!) His love for animals was evident in the way they gravitated toward him; he had a gentle nature that made him a beloved presence among both people and pets alike.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Ridenour; his daughter, Megan Ridenour; his sister, Karen Ridenour-Price; and his brother-in-law, Tom Price. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maxine and Paul Ridenour, as well as his step-son, Jacob Cook.

Chuck's kindness and warmth left a lasting impression on those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who cherished him.

Played high school football at Madison South with Chuck. I was a freshman Chuck a Junior. Chuck did not play much in games my 2 years playing with him as teammates. He was a testament to do something you liked no matter the rewards. Summer conditioning, hot practices, freezing practices sitting bench game after game, not one complaint did I ever hear. He was the ultimate teammate and someone I admired and tried to do in life was I made a commitment you followed thru on no matter the obstacles. Enjoy Heaven Chuck

Chuck was a member of the Antique Radio Collectors and Historians of Greater St. Louis and a personal friend. I remember Sherry getting me to restore the chassis in a Philco console radio as a Christmas gift for him. She covered it with a blanket so he wouldn't see that the dial and knobs were gone :)

Chuck was always emailing me helpful listings of radio auctions and sales he found online to share with other club members. He really did have a heart of gold. I will miss him.
