Charles Sannipoli Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 10, 2015.
Charles (Chuck) Joseph Sannipoli, after a 2 year plus courageous battle with brain cancer and 13 years of Parkinson's disease, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2015. He suffers no more.

Chuck was born to Henry and Constance Sannipoli in Camden, New Jersey on July 15, 1945. He attended Edgewood Regional High School where he and his wife Christina (Chris) met. In May 1967 Chuck graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in electrical engineering. On August 26, 1967 Chuck and Chris married and moved to Raleigh, North Carolina. Chuck is survived by his devoted wife Chris, sons, Charles (Andy) Andrew (wife Stephanie) and Christopher (Matt) Matthew (wife Colleen) and grandchildren, Connor, Mitchell, Avery, Caitlyn, and Carter and step-grandchildren Julia and Nathan South. A brother, James Dean Sannipoli of Kansas survives him as do nieces Sheryl, Theresa, and Tina and cousin Emalee, all of Kansas.

For 34 years, Chuck worked for IBM and then consulted for IP Infusion for several years thereafter. Throughout Chuck's business career he was not only fortunate to make lasting friendships, but also, had the opportunity to travel to many interesting cities, states, and countries. His temporary assignments to France, California, New York, and Florida provided Chris, Andy, and Matt with many memorable experiences. Chuck enjoyed travel, fine wine-especially Bordeaux wine-, elegant scotch, golf, hockey, soft jazz and volunteering with the Durham Highway Fire Department where he served on the board and as board chairman for 15 years. But, very most of all Chuck loved very much and always cared for his family and his Corgi, Wattson.

Chuck's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, many caregivers and Pastor Bryan Wright for the care and compassion given to Chuck and his family throughout Chuck's long journey. Much appreciation to the many friends and family who never forgot to visit with Chuck, send him a card or plant or note or keep him in their prayers. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Duke Children's Hospital Oncology Department or Transitions LifeCare.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh.

Chris, Your heartfelt, loving words at Chuck's Celebration Of Life were very touching. Your description of him as a kind, loving, caring, humorous, gentle man without a mean bone in his body truly captured the essence of Chuck Sannipoli.
Chris, take heart in knowing that Chuck's wonderful qualities will live on in you, your two sons, and your precious Grandchildren. Sorry for you loss.
Sincerely, Jim and Julie Murphy (Wake Forest, NC)

Chuck was an amazing person. I was privileged to know him as an industry colleague and fellow Board member of the OIF. I looked up to him as a mentor and example of how to be a respected leader, a dear friend, a strong family man and a passionate hockey fan. I will greatly miss him. Please accept my sympathies.

Chris,

Sorry to hear about Chuck. Linda Paul (Schmeer) told me. He was such a cool person and a good drummer. I am in shock.
