Charles Edward Schaar

We regretfully announce the departure of Charles Edward Schaar from this life on February 26, 2024. Born in Midland, Michigan, to Chester (Chet) Roy Schaar and the late Barbara Ann Schaar on March 26, 1954, Charles was a lifelong pillar of the community he so dearly loved. At the venerable age of 69, he was called to his heavenly rest, leaving behind a legacy steeped in love, honor, and unwavering integrity.

Left to cherish his memory are his faithful wife, Catherine Sue Schaar, and their loving children: Miles David Hepinstall, Heather Marie Moeggenberg, Heather Colleen Schaar, and Erica Ethel Leiner. His sisters, Marilyn and Brenda, along with a host of relatives and friends, also mourn his passing while celebrating the life he lived. Charles is preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Jillian.

A proud graduate of Coleman High School, Charles further demonstrated his commitment to public service by earning a degree in Law Enforcement from Delta College. He devoted 35 years to a distinguished career at Dow Chemical and subsequently lent his expertise to STT in Mt Pleasant, Michigan, and Allied Universal in Florida.

Charles's love for the great outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for fishing, hunting, camping, and motorcycle riding. His joy was most palpable when surrounded by family and nature, especially during the cherished bonfires that became a hallmark of togetherness for his loved ones.

The Schaar family will hold a traditional Celebration of Life service in May 2024 in Coleman, Michigan, where friends and family will gather to honor Charles's memory. Further details will be provided as arrangements are finalized.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be directed to Suicide Prevention, in recognition of Charles's compassionate nature and lifelong dedication to helping others.

We express our profound thanks to the staff at Stratford Pines in Midland, MI, for their compassionate care in Charles's final days. His spirit of generosity, loyalty, and paternal tenderness will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. The Schaar family is deeply grateful for the comfort and condolences offered in this time of sorrow. May he rest in eternal peace.
