To Paula and family--

I just now learned of Charlie's passing and was greatly saddened. Your mother and Charlie lived next door to my family on N 10th Street. Not only were they gracious neighbors over the years, but Charlie was one of the main reasons I attended Lafayette College following my graduation from Easton High School. In fact, it was the Staples Scholarship that helped make it possible. I only saw him from time to time after I went away to medical school, but we also communicated by phone and letter. He would ask about my career progress and my family, and he would talk about you and your children, always a source of great pride and affection for him. It has been my honor over the years to help support your parents' scholarship fund at Lafayette, and now I will also consider it as a memorial and tribute to Charlie as well.

I knew Charles through his niece Jennifer and her mom, Paula. A sweet, accomplished & humble man from a wonderful family who loved him so much. He will be very much missed by all who knew him & loved him.

I met Charles in 1970. I was a recent college graduate and Charles and his mother lived across the street from my parent's house. His mother was an absolute sweetheart. And because of her, I met Charles. During that time we talked, on occasion. I was so impressed by Charles' warmth, intellect, and sincerity. For all of his accomplishments, many of which I was not aware of till today, I have not met a more unassuming person as Charles. I am so glad I had the opportunity to meet and befriend him. This world needs more people like Charles. John Luczyszyn

I am very sad to hear Mr. Staples' passing. I was one of the first Chinese students he admitted into Lafayette College. My life at Lafayette was made so much more special because of all the help he offered me, including driving me to Philadelphia to deal with my VISA issues. We remained friends after my graduation and we were thrilled to celebrate his 89th birthday with him 3 years ago.
Mr. Staples, your smile is infectious. I will always miss you.

Love,
Haiwen

Sir,
I did not know you personally, however I would very much like to "Thank You" for your dedicated and honorable Military Service to our country.
As a member of the "GREATEST GENERATION", and as a "WORLD WAR II VETERAN", you Sir are my HERO!
At a later date we will meet in that "SPECIAL PLACE" which GOD has reserved for ALL of those who have stepped forward to serve their country in a Military Uniform.
May ALL of GOD'S blessings be with your dear family!

Mr Staples was a resident at Lafayette Towers for many years when I lived there. He always had a smile and kind word, and was a thoughtful, considerate neighbor. Robin Gelman
