It suddenly seem so long ago, those times I was fortunate enough to work with Charlie, which is sad. And time with Charlie in a Crown Vic, imbedded in a wry, basically, unmistakably deeply Bostonian sense of the world was memorable for this fellow Bostonian. Miss you, Charlie.

It was a joy and an honor to work with Charlie, knowing his wry, relaxed good humor would grace both of us throughout the shift in which his fiercely competitive edge would never abandon him. He supported me through times when I sometimes felt I needed inordinate amounts of encouragement. It strikes me that only Boston could have produced such a roguish, joyous Keltic son. It was painful to see Alzheimer's hobbling that quick, funny, unflappable mind and temperament. I send my condolences to the entire family and Charlie will be in my thoughts and prayers forever.

I was lucky enough to call Charlie a friend for over 45 years and had the pleasure of him serving as my right wing on the WHDH Hockey team for over twenty of those years. Charlie was a master story teller and kept us all amused after our games with his countless stories about his daily experiences at his beloved Channel 7. Charlie was a legend and will be missed by all. On behalf of the "Hockey Guys" I would like to send our thoughts and prayers to Linda and Charlie's family in this time of loss.

Charlsie was a dear friend of over 40 years to Jim, and then me and our children. Through hockey and shared lunches, trips to the RedWood Forest in CA (where he taught us the correct way to photograph a towering Redwood) or his hospitality in FL, or sharing behind the scenes of the Esplanade 4th of July Spectacular with our children, and making sure they sat in the front row, Charlsie will live on in the memories he made with those who´s lives he impacted. Always a story, a smile & a fabulous laugh. Our deepest condolences to Linda & the Sullivan Family. Rest in Peace, friend.

I am so sad to hear of Charlie´s passing. I loved spending time with him on weekends I´d visit Karen. What a wonderful man he was. He always made me laugh and feel welcome in his home. My love to Linda, Karen, Mike and friends and family who I know will miss him dearly. He was one of a kind!

My sincere condolences to Charlie´s family and friends. My dad died of Alzheimer´s so I know how dragged out it can be. I worked at WBZ as a video editor and photographer shooting news but mostly sports during the 80´s. Whenever Charlie was working on the same assignment it was a joy to be with him. I have to say he was the number one "character" in Boston news. I was covering the Celtics - Lakers seventh championship game at the garden. I was exhausted when it was over. Was loading my gear in the car and Charlie walked by. We had a talk and I said: "I could sure use a cold one!" Without flinching he opens up his vest and pulls out a cold one. I´ll never ever forget that moment. Best regards to a wonderful guy.

Dear Linda, Michael, Karen, Arthur, Jean, Clair and Your Families,
Between the temporary tears and everlasting laughter, Ginny and I are sorry for your loss as we will always miss Charlsie's loyal kinship with our families. He & Linda, through their realtor, introduced us to the place we've called home for 40 years this month. We will always cherish the memories of their visits, of our evenings at Fenway Park and of all the assignments Charlsie and I had together, especially "Charlsie's and Ron's Big Adventure" in Washington D.C.. which started when we bumped into Speaker of The U.S. House Tip O'Neill, after his morning round of golf & he got our cab onto the Capitol grounds for our day's work with the Mass delegation. Later, after editing and feeding our report from the CBS Washington Bureau alongside Bob Schieffer and other network staff, we grabbed a beer at a nearby outdoor table where we ran into Jesse Jackson, with whom Charlsie exchanged cheerful greetings as Rev. Jackson walked by. Then, when we arrived at National Airport, we bumped into Congressman Barney Frank and spontaneously had dinner with him before boarding the plane where we sat in front of Ralph Nader who Charlsie also greeted with, "Ralph, Mr. Nader, loved your book, 'Unsafe at Any Speed.' Then, after we landed at Logan, we, alone in the concourse, ran into Smokey Robinson, who Charlsie complimented with, "Smokey, love all your music."
I will always remember that day, particularly when I hear 'Tracks of My Tears' or 'Tears of a Clown,' hoping the harmony Charlsie and I had on and off the job will span the distance from here to heaven.
Lots of Love,
Ron & Ginny

Charlie was truly one of a kind. Quite a competitor, but at the end of the day, you would always walk away with a smile at something witty and pithy that he said. Charlie you made the world a lot more interesting. Rest in Peace.

Charlie was truly a wonderful and unique person. Whenever or wherever we got together there would be plenty of laughter. He had the Irish gift of entertaining people with his myriad stories. He will be sorely missed.
