Charles Anthony Toye, Jr. died surrounded by loving family on January 30, 2019. Charles was born in Providence, RI on October 9, 1952 to the late Charles Anthony Toye, Sr. and Marie Celiene (Bruce) Toye. Charlie was a world traveler, embracing many cultures during the latest global manufacturing revolution. He grew up by the ocean with his family and friends on Cape Ann, where he was famous for landing a 670 lb. tuna on a hand line, assisted by his mom, Celiene. He attended college at Marquette University (go Warriors!), where he met the love of his life, Maripat, to whom he married in Wheaton, IL. They raised three children and eventually settled in Longmeadow, MA. He completed a Masters in Accounting at Western New England University, coached youth sports, mentored small businesses in the SCORE program, served on the Board of the Longmeadow Public Library, and was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Parish. Charlie enjoyed fishing, sailing, skiing, tennis, golf, and being a longtime New England Patriots season ticket holder. He cherished his time with family and his grandchildren, conducting science experiments, gardening, running out-routes, and practicing flash cards. Charlie was predeceased by his parents and sister Mary Lou Toye Colon. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Maripat (Norris) Toye; son Charles Anthony Toye III and Patricia Griffiths Toye of Sherborn, MA; son James Edward Toye of Fort Lauderdale, FL; daughter Katherine Toye Delehanty and Jack Delehanty of Portsmouth, RI; grandchildren: Caileigh Toye, Collin Toye, Molly Delehanty, Keira Toye, Nora Delehanty and soon, TBD3; sister, Kathy McDiarmid and Robert of Manchester, MA; brother Jeffrey Toye and Dawn of Magnolia, MA; nieces and nephews, Melissa Bowen, Jonathan McDiarmid, Kristen Feuerherm, Alyssa McDiarmid, Amy Norris, Felicia Colon, Brian Hartzell, Ryan Pedro Colon, Jared Toye, Erin Simpson, Daniel Simpson, Alicia Toye, and Grace Simpson. Charlie was also supported by his dear friends Tom, Wayne, & Debbie, the amazing nursing & support staff at Baystate Medical Center, and Dr. Richie Steingart, Dr. Daniel Skiest & Dr. N. Joonalagadda during his journey with Leukemia. Calling hours are from 4-8pm on Monday, February 4, 2019 at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, MA. Services will be Tuesday, February 5, 2019, beginning at 8:45am at the Funeral Home.
