Charles H Vogt

Charles Herbert Vogt was granted his angel wings on Sunday May 28, 2017. An otherwise healthy 90 years old, his biggest strength was his life loving soul and his God loving spirit. He touched every person he came across with loving kindness. "He was funny, kind, generous, a great man!" He always had a listening ear, a discerning and God loving advice and a prayer for those who reached for him. A faithful and generous servant and avid gardener, Charles enjoyed his family as it grew through the years providing gentle and loving counsel to all who loved him. His loving spirit and kindness was cherished by family and friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday June 3rd at 10 a.m. followed by a service in memory of his great love for The Lord at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale St. in Houston. The burial will be at Forest Park Lawndale at 2:00 pm preceded by a Memorial Service at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Pasadena, Texas, the church that Charles and his wife Earline attended and served for more than 50 years.
Charles was born on July 24, 1926 in Victoria, Texas, the eldest of 5 children to Ernst Christian Vogt and Josephine Pannen Vogt. He served in the Navy, during World War II spending 2 years in the South Pacific. Charles worked for more than 30 years as a chemical engineer for Diamond Alkali/Shamrock in Deer Park, TX within the Houston Ship Channel petrochemical complex and raised his family in Pasadena, TX.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Maida Earline Adams Vogt. He is survived by three sons; Jonathan and wife Leah of Orange, TX; Joel and wife Pamela of Morgantown, WV; Jay and wife Ivonne of Seattle, WA, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and his brother Ernest C. Vogt of Yantis, TX and Grace Vogt Johnson of Pittsfield, MA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Paul Vogt and Mickey Vogt.
