To all the Watson generations: I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Sonny well because I got out of touch with him after his mother died, but what I remember about my last meeting with him is that he was one of the nicest people I had ever met. He was very nice to me, and I'll never forget him. I still have the Christmas decoration he gave me nearly 61 years ago. With a heart full of sympathy, Stina Brazelton

Here it is, ten years ago that Sonny moved on to the "Real Big Band" and I'm just getting around to this tribute. Was made aware of Sonny's passing almost a year and a half after his demise. So saddened by the loss of this genuinely good person. As a non academic, music loving bassist, Sonny musically nurtured me in some pretty decent bands as I worked my way through school. I was honored to play with Sonny in quite a few different scenarios. Always interesting, always confident in my ability, he was inspiring. Fond memories of Sonny with my cousin Babe Perry, Eddie Waltman, Larry Walsh, and I in the band. We had a fun Cape Cod gig for three or four consecutive summers. Great time. Have a few photos of the old days. Great memories. Babe and I are the only surviving members. Very belated condolences to Sonny's family.

So sorry to hear about the loss of Sonny. I played in his band briefly in 2002 - 2003. It meant a lot to me.

Theresa I am soooo sorry for the loss of Sonny . I always did enjoy coming by the house and helping with the yard work, or fixing the fence, or playing with the dog.. I also always enjoyed how much he loved to bust my chops around the neighborhood or at the lanes..

I'm so sorry not to be able to be there with all of the family and share with your loss. Sonny was a good friend and a wonderful musician who I enjoyed playing with many times. It was always a pleasure and highly professional.
When we were teens, we played together in a local big band and Sonny wrote the first big band arrangement for me of the song, Tenderly. It was absolutely beautiful.
I will never forget you, my friend. RIP.
