Mr Weidner walked into our first period World Problems classroom and calmly said, "I hope you've got your bomb shelters ready." It was October 1962. US spy planes had photos of Soviet missiles that were installed in Cuba. His words were a shocking jolt of reality. A real World Problem. He encouraged me to become involved in concerns in the greater world and to take charge of my own life. I also appreciated his sophisticated humor and intellectual curiosity. He was an outstanding teacher. Rest in peace, Charles Weidner.

Well said Mary Lou. And he was there for us, confused as we were, the day JFK was killed. Have thought about Mr Weidner many times over the years.
You're in my thoughts Bethany.

I can still recall him walking along the breezeway at the new high school building, necktie blowing in the wind. He was the most intelligent and engaging teacher I have ever met. I actually enjoyed his class; he encouraged us to think, reason and question. Because he was counselor I joined the newspaper staff and learned lessons and skills which still apply, every day. He had a strong influence on my life. Condolences to you and your family, Bethany, for the passing of such an exceptional man.

He was my favorite teacher because he tried to prepare us for college and the real world. He made us think and sometimes would say things that were incorrect and wait to see if anyone would correct him! Bethany and family sorry for your loss Mary Lou (Inman) Caudill.
