We loved him and are heartbroken. We always looked forward visiting. He loved the kids enough to make them straighten up and do their homework and when the homework was done he was always up for a game of chess.
Connor and Ashley caught their first fish at the pond...They were always excited to see him at their basketball games. Always had a hug and a smile for us.

Chuck was a good man, and I have admired him since I was a little girl. I remember the pigeon coop in the backyard, but didn't realize he stayed in the hobby. I would have liked to talk to him about that.
I remember a time when he was visiting us in Evansville, Ind. A late summer storm was brewing and the wind was whipping everything it could into the air including a big umbrella we had in the backyard. The wind tossed it into the air and blew it across the street into the backyard of the house facing us, and on into a harvested cornfield behind that house.
Chuck saw it sailing across the street and ran after it barefooted. He was fast, but the wind was faster! He ran full speed into that field of spikey hard-as-rock cornstalk stubble that scraped and tore and his skin. He captured the umbrella and brought it back.
I was probably 7 or 8 at the time, and I was so proud he was my cousin! I still am. I just wish I could have told him before he had to go.
My deepest condolences. I love you. Dawn

I knew Chuck many years ago when we bowled on the same team and both worked for VA. He was a great guy. Please accept my condolences.

Chuck had a huge heart for young children and expressed it in coaching of youth. I feel he taught them to believe in themselves regardless if they were the better athlete or someone who was participating with lesser talent. Always reliable and always fun to be around, he was a good friend to those of us in the Lawrence Township Girls Basketball league and the Fall Creek Little League; coaching and officiating. He was competitive and like to win like every one else, but he was humble. Chuck was a great man because he was a giver of his time and I like to think to those of us he knew him, we liked being around him and we are better people because we got to know Chuck. Rest in peace my friend. God got good coach too!
