Charles WILCHER Obituary
66, passed away on June 9, 2015 at the C. W. (Bill) Young VA Medical Center under the care of Hospice. He was born in St. Petersburg, to George and Willie Mae Wilcher (Walker), on Dec. 11, 1948. He came to know Jesus Christ as his personal savior early in life. He served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970. He obtained the rank of sergeant and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, Combat Infantryman Badge Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal (Rifle), Expert (M-60 MG). Charles was preceded in death by his father, George Wilcher. He graduated from Gibbs High School in 1966.
He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of 20 years, Jacquelyn D. Wilcher, St. Petersburg; mother, Willie Mae Walker, St. Petersburg; one son, Qawie J. Wilcher, Atlanta, GA; stepchildren, Lorenzo (Jessica) Patterson, Racford, NC, Terry Patterson, St. Petersburg; Shanika (Taj) Jones, Atlanta, GA; goddaughter, Jaquoya Green, St. Petersburg; godson, Jawon Thompson, St. Petersburg; sisters, Deborah (Johnny) Aston, Sumter, SC; Latosha Wilcher, Brooklyn, NY; sister-in-law, Sandra Wilchers, Palm Beach, FL; loving mother-in-law, Lizzie Donald, St. Petersburg; loving sisters-in-law, Frances R. Scott, St. Petersburg, Deloris Green-Foster, St. Petersburg, and Rev. Eddie Mae Layne, Pensacola, FL; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 18, from 3-6 pm. Family will receive friends from 6-7 pm. Funeral Service will be Friday, June 19 at 11 am. Both services will be held at Greater Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, 1045 16th Street South, St. Petersburg, Rev. Clarence A Williams, Pastor. Interment will be in the Bay Pines National Cemetery.

To my Family, Charles was a silent hero. He has shown us a true example of Matthew 6:1; I knew he was extremely smart and charismatic, but I didn't know the sacrifice that he gave to this country. Rest easy Charlie, for you have labored well.
