Charlotte Minter Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 8 to Feb. 10, 2024.
Columbus - Charlotte Blitch Minter, 87, a retired President of FSCCJ's North Campus and a 30-year resident of Atlantic Beach died in Columbus, Georgia December 20, 2023.

Charlotte was an organizer in the successful campaign to prevent high rise condos in Atlantic Beach. Locally active, she was a ringleader of the "North Beach Wimmins Circle" and was lovingly known by neighborhood teenagers as "Ms. Police." She was elected into the Jacksonville Leadership Council while an administrator at the college.

Charlotte was a founding member of Florida's Martin County League of Women Voters, and received a Masters in Art History from Florida State University.

Upon retirement from FCCJ she built an adobe hacienda in New Mexico where she was active in arts and cultural affairs, returning back east two years ago to be closer to family.

Charlotte is survived by her husband Jim Minter; by her daughter, Ashley Newhaller and husband, Dan Newhaller, by her son James H. Minter III, and wife, Lisa Anders; and also by her four grandchildren: Samantha Elise Newhaller, Leland Daniel Newhaller, Isabella Jordan Minter and Benjamin Ross Anders.

She was an elder of the Atlantic Beach Presbyterian Church where her memorial services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, February 24. All are invited.

A much loved companion, wise counselor and faithful friend, Charlotte's life was a gift to her family and friends, to her world and to her time.

Memorials in her name may be contributed to The Carter Center in Atlanta or charity of choice.
