Cheryl J Mullins

Cheryl was at the rest home when I ws placed there at 18. If it wasn't for Cheryl being there and her accepting manner I doubt that I would have survived living at the rest home. She will always number 1 mother and that's what we would call each other at the time. There will always be a longing in my heart to hear her voice and the great advice she gave me.I love you, Cheryl. Thank you so much for giving me your love and wisdom.

Cheryl I will never forget you! You were a dear friend to my grandma and she always spoke so kindly of you. When she passed away I enjoyed coming to visit you and talking to you! You will be missed dearly.

Cheryl is one of a kind! To know her is to know how to face life's challenges with perseverance, optimism, and good humor. What a great example she has been my whole life growing up in the Ensign 3rd Ward and beyond. Her sharp mind and sharp wit made every conversation fun and interesting. What a loss for us, but what a joy to imagine Cheryl now!

I met Cheryl when her younger sister Melia and I were dating, a that time she was still living in the rest home, Melia and I used to take her and her best friend Ila in Ila's van, to to the local malls and it allowed them both time away from the rest home. We were both so happy when her dad remodeled the basement of their home to allow Cheryl, and at that time Ila to move in and get out of the rest home. My funniest memory of Cheryl is when Ken and Colleen were married and us guys had to lift Cheryl in her wheelchair up and down a large flight of stairs, in the restaurant that the wedding reception was in, she screamed in fear at us both going up, and and taking her back down. When Melia and I were married in 1973 she welcomed me whole heartedly into the Mullins family. I will always remember whenever we would visit from CA Cheryl letting the kids ride on the back or the table of her wheelchair, and taking them to the library, she was an angel with all the nieces, and nephews and I know she is now Heavens most welcome angel. She was such a great lady, and not only will I miss her, but I know everyone that Cheryl came in contact with her in some way or another, in her very productive lifetime will miss her too. she was always so happy, and quick witted right up to the very end, I will also met her sense of humor. Rest in Peace Cheryl, I know you are now running and dancing in heaven now. I love you and miss you.

Rusty Carroll (Melia's husband)

I was born in Farmington New Mexico in 1952 and my big sister Cheryl was my nanny, sister and best friend. She has been my greatest inpiration my whole life. As a young boy, I remember many UTA bus rides from "I" Street & 9th Avenue to East High School. I got off the bus there, and walked to 13th South and down the street to Hillside Manor to visit her. I know how hard it was for her to live there all those years. She never complained. I was drafted in 1972, and when I returned my father was remodeling the downstairs of our home into an apartment for her. This made it so she no longer had to live at the rest home. My two daughters, Emilie and Casey will tell you that Cheryl became a guiding light in their lives. I have fond memories seeing Cheryl interact with the all the kids in our family. Cheryl would spend time with each one of them, giving them a ride on her wheelchair table top. She would tell them how much she loved them. She guided them throughout their lives with great wisdom, love and care. I know that Cheryl is my guardian angel and will continue to guide me as she did for many years. My Aunt Cheryl was a truley happy person. She had her family & friends that loved her. I remember coming to visit from california and her taking us to the park or to the library or just going for a walk around the block. I will miss her so much. I wish that my kids could have gotten to know her better. I will make sure that they know what a wonderful person she will always be. I love you Aunt Cheryl.

Cheryl is one of the most remarkable women I have ever known. Amazingly intuitive, funny, humble, longsuffering, spiritual, and a fabulous artist. I have long treasured the drawing she gave me. It is framed and in my home. I loved serving in the Primary Presidency with her in the old Ensign 3rd Ward. I loved seeing the children riding on her wheelchair with her. I know that Cheryl is up in heaven running and playing- free at last from her physical prison. Heaven has another angel. Kay Amussen

Cheryl touched my life and inspired me from the time I was five years old until I married and moved away from the old Ensign 3rd ward. What an inspiration she has always been to me and my family! I will never forget her amazing stories and wonderful sense of humor. She definately made the world a better place! She gave me hope when life felt too tough to handle. She always lifted me up and made me feel important. She was an awesome primary teacher and young women leader to me. She is etched in my heart. I thank God she was brave enough to stick around all these years. Thank you for sharing her with us! Oh, Mullins family my prayers are with you. She is now probably outrunning the angels and skiing the highest clouds!

Aunt Cheryl, I am going to miss our little visits very much. I remember the times I would come up to visit and you would teach me about geneology. I would bring my 3 young daughters, and it never bothered you. You would love and tease them and they loved you for it. I will miss the times we would ride down to the Library usually with one or two girls on your lap "for the ride of their lives". The joy and love you taught us about sharing, living, loving unconditionally and dealing with adversity will never be forgotten. My love of genealogy was a gift you gave to me. We would talk for hours about our ancestory and you always made their trials seem so much more devestating. You gave life to the ones who had gone before us and yet you pulled lifes lessions out of the mist of it. I know they are with you now. The love lesson that you taught and how you know the savior loves you and how excited you were to some day dance in that field of flowers. One day I will join you in that field of flowers, so we can dance the day away, with flowers in our hair, a smile on our lips, save one dance for me. Thanks for your love, humor, laughter, and unconditional support in helping me find myself in the world of others. I will miss you but never forget the lessions you taught. I will honor our code of straight forward answers and honest endurance. No time to slack. I will remember to be the proud person you enstilled in me and hold with honor my head when I see who I am and who I have become. I love you. THANKS

We met Cheryl while serving in the LDS Hospital branch. She was a special person - a friend to everyone. We loved her quick wit and beautiful smile. Her knowledge of the gospel gave her strength which she in turned shared with us. We loved and admired her. Cheryl was a blessing to know, and she will be missed by many.

To the Mullins family- I didn't know Cheryl but when Josh talked about her he always said good things. I'm very sorry for your loss.

I met Cheryl 7 years ago as her nurse with the Waiver program. In all those years, I never heard Cheryl complain or speak anything negative about anyone or anything. She was an angel, and serving her was a gift. No doubt, whoever she touched was better for it.

Cheryl was a great friend to me and my entire family. We knew each other from many years together in the Ensign Third Ward. It was always fun to talk and laugh. Her faithfulness was an inspiration--I remember seeing her numerous times rolling across Ninth Avenue in her chair, going to the church to do extraction work. She also served as the Primary President in the Third Ward, where the children were able to enjoy her company and learn from her. I am thankful for Cheryl's love and kindness, will miss her, and will remember her fondly.
