I only came to know Wes these past 2 years, but we enjoyed discussing astronomy, and firearms. He was an absolute delight to talk to. I hope his Yorkie finds some comfort in these days after his passing.
I will truly miss this great man, and friend.

Wes was one of my good friends. I met him in BHC when he said he put in septic tanks and I hired him to do mine. We lived across the st. from ea. other since 1967. I was only a part timer, but we stayed involved. I called him "Mr. Playa Del Rio" because he took care of our park from day one. Doug Swan was the owner & developer, but Wes was the one who actually stayed on top of what was going on. He did have a good vantage point!
He loved to eat and I often invited him for dinner. We never got tired of hearing his tales of the old days when he was a kid and spent the summers in Oatman with his friend. They did a lot of Tom Sawyer things on the river and I loved those stories.
If you needed to know who to go to to "fix" something, Wes knew who to call.
I love the obit pic. of him. It captures his essence.
I miss him daily. We all have to go, but I had him figured for at least 10 more years.
What a great guy. Mary

Who will I call now? It seemed that most of the time we needed any information we would call Wes and if he said that he didn't know the answer we would be mad at him because we thought he knew everything. He was a good friend who enjoyed life and share with all of us. It would take a book for me to say all that needs to be said about Wes. Who will I call now?

I looked to the skies with Wes. He was a dear friend and a wonderfully strange philosopher. When he was in my astronomy class he won my admiration, when I got to know him, he won my heart. He was a dear friend to my family as well. I miss him greatly. The world has lost a rare gem.

I'll be sure and let David Quigley know about Wes' passing in the morning. I know he acknowledged his smarts and friendship.

I miss Wess already. His stories entertained and enlightened you.
He was ready to help me with any questions and informed me about his passion for the stars, ultralights, guns and local history. Sorry to see such a local treasure leave us. He will always be remembered as a unique and vital friend. We will surely miss you. Jim and Karen

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and all that had the pleasure to know Wes.
Although I've only known Wes a few years, he was a very special friend. He was always able to answer my questions concerning ammo/firearms. He was honest and straight forward, whether you liked it or not.
He often told me how he enjoyed his life and had been able to do the things he wanted to do. He loved astronomy and star gazing. Now he is, "ONE WITH THE STARS"
I know I will miss him, his stories and knowledge.
Rest Peacefully, Wes
Your friend always,
Charlie

Wes Griffin was a friend, educator and neighbor. People will remember him for his constant efforts to maintain the grounds of the park near his home, his ultralite flights over the river, celebratory Christmas and Halloween yard displays, and his vast and varied knowledge of weaponry. I remember him as the patient man who spent hours willingly explaining the workings, mechanisms, care and safety of handguns and weaponry to two young boys. Those young boys are now grown men, gun enthusiasts and collectors, safety experts and marksmen. My sons and the community benefited from knowing such a man as Wes who knew how to Pay It Forward.
