CHEVON A. "VONNIE"
Age 54, of Elliott, peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2016. Beloved daughter of the late Rose and Charles Hendzel; favorite sister of Carol Brislin, Char (Rob) Sinicrope, Chuck (Denise) Hendzel, Dan Hendzel and Denise (Mike Speakman) Hendzel. Vonnie is survived by her wonderful nieces, nephews, her loving cousins and many dear and special friends, especially Mike Speakman and his family. Von was blessed in her life with some wonderful teachers from Conroy School where she received her Certificate of Completion in 1981. Support Coordinators who assisted Vonnie in living a full, safe and happy life, especially Verna Johnson, Brenna Connolly, Michael Southwood, Tony Drane, Mary Ellen Chandler, Tony DiBaggio, Matt Bruggerman and Autumn Fahey. Vonnie enjoyed a happy, independent life with the assistance of Mercy Behavioral Health and later with the assistance and care of Achieva Health. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday Only at ANTHONY G. STAAB FUNERAL HOME, INC., 900 Chartiers Ave., Pgh., PA 15220. Mass of Christian Burial in Guardian Angels Church on Friday at 10 a.m. Interment in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Achieva HC, 711 Bingham St., Pgh., PA 15203. Add a tribute at:

A former work friend from MBH just recently asked me about both Chevon and Denise. I informed her of Chevon’s passing and told her I hoped Denise was doing well. So Chevon is gone but not forgotten and both of us hope that Denise is happy and healthy and knows what a big difference she made in Chevon’s quality of life.

Denise and Carol, I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Vonnie. She was such a beautiful person, loved by many.
I'll always remember the times she came with you when you visited my Mom. Mom just love her so much!!

Although I am new to the family, having only met Vonnie twice, the love shared by all towards her was overwhelming.
May she now rest in peace with Mom and Dad... and be added to the ones who we know are watching over us.

Please accept my condolences upon the passing of your precious "Vonnie". I had the pleasure of working with her and for her for several years at MBH. I clearly remember the complete devotion of Denise and Carol to her happiness and well being.
