Dear Joyce & Family:
I have many fond memories of USCPFA dinners and meetings back in the 1970's and early 1980's. C.C. was a thoughtful and gentle man. Reading of his death brought back many fond memories of our work together on friendship with China. It seems that few from those days are still with us.
Warmest wishes.

Dear Caroline
My sympathies on the loss of your father. I haven't seen you since grade school over 40 years ago, but I remember you well and remember visiting your home once when we were in brownie scouts together. From what I read about your father it appears we've lost a very fine man and I'm certain a wonderful father. My thoughts are with you. ~Karen (Englund) Steinle

Dear Joyce,
It was with deep sorrow that I learned from Dan that CC had passed away. He was a dear and gentle man whose company I much enjoyed.
I remember clearly (and reminded you often since 1964) how you and CC graciously insisted we and our children come to your beautiful home for dinner the very first evening we spent in our new home - also in Arden Hills - even before we unpacked a single box.
We haven't seen you and CC often over the years. But each time we've gotten together, it's been a special event for us.
Please share our deepest sympathy with your children and their families.
May your memories be sweet and may CC rest in peace.
Lovingly, Ellen

It was my pleasure to meet Mr. Hsiao at a Chinese American Friendship dinner in 1997. He, his wife, and daughter conferred over the translation of my name into Chinese characters for a new business card. While I was surprised to think he was criticizing someone else's attempt, it turned out my name did not sound good in Chinese, and would be hard to say. So, he gave me a new name! I was very pleased to later share a dinner hosted by C C and Joyce, and be invited to see their lovely home. I was inspired by their descriptions of China, and with their enthusiasm, made sure my daughter and I got to see Suzhou on my first trip to China.
My deepest sympathy to Joyce, his daughters, son and families.

Joyce, It is very sad to hear the professor passed away. I will always remember his kindness and contribution to USCPFA (U.S. China People's Friendship Association). It is always pleasant to see you two sit together and chat so nicely in Perkins, Peking Garden and numerous USCPFA meetings and gatherings. He will be remembered by many of us. Christopher
