BANGERTER, Jerald Christian Jr., 47 of Brentwood Tennessee, passed away on May 3, 2013, surrounded by his family, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Chris was born in Albuquerque, NM to Jerry and Sandra Bangerter of Kaneohe, Hawaii where he was welcomed by two sisters Cori and Leslie. Their dad was a U.S. Army Colonel so the family spent most of their childhood overseas in the Philippines and Germany. These experiences contributed to his love for travel, exploration and his adventurous spirit. He was an Eagle Scout and always loved the outdoors. He graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in Bettendorf, Iowa where he was active in Student Government and played football. He graduated from the U.S. Army Military Academy and was a 1LT U.S. Army helicopter pilot in the UH-60 Blackhawk. He married his wife Becky Brackin in Cleveland, MS on April 21, 1990. There first military assignment was in Ansbach, Germany. He is a Veteran of Desert Storm where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and other honors. After leaving the military Chris graduated from Vanderbilt University (JD). Chris and Becky move to Hawaii where he worked with Wagner, Watson and Pettit. They missed Nashville and soon returned, to work with Boult Cummings. He also worked with HCA and Vanderbilt, before finding a home at LifePoint Hospitals where he has worked for the past 9 years and his current position was Chief Compliance Officer. Chris is preceded in death by his father-in-law, John Brackin. Chris is survived by his wife Becky; three children, Lucas, Eva and Jack; parents, Jerry and Sandra Bangerter; sisters, Cori Hamilton (Mike) and Leslie Grayson (Terry); mother-in-law, Linda Brackin; sister-in-law, Denisa Winters (Travis); brother-in-law, Kelly Brackin (Jennifer) and many nieces and nephews. Visitation at the church, Wednesday, May 8th from 5-7 p.m. Funeral, Thursday, May 9th at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1100 Gray Fox Lane, Franklin, TN. Graveside Services immediately following the funeral at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN. Please join us for a celebration of a life well lived at the Gardens Pavilion immediately after the graveside services. Chris lived his life to the fullest with great faith for our Saviour Jesus Christ and love for his family, friends and church. Chris was an excellent husband, father, son and friend who inspired us all. He will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Kidney Cancer Association, The Wounded Warrior Project, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints Missionary Fund or the charity of your choice.
