Chris Corrigan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 27 to Apr. 5, 2023.
With great sorrow, we announce, Chris Corrigan of Bradenton, passed away unexpectedly in Jan. 2023. He was loved by many and is greatly missed.

James Christopher Corrigan, Oct. 12, 1959 - Jan 5, 2023. Chris was born in Tuscon, Arizona but then spent his early years on Anna Maria Island when his family came back to their roots. His grandparents, Jack and Ellen Marshall, were long time realtors on Anna Maria Island. Chris attended Anna Maria Elementary and Bayshore Middle School. He spent his high school years in Chicago, IL and then Syracuse, NY. After high school, he returned to Anna Maria and spent the rest of his days in the area. He had a passion for music and learned to play the drums at an early age.

Chris was a very talented musician who worked hard to perfect his style.

He became a well known local drummer and played in a number of bands thru the years, including but not limited to The Hammerheads, Razing Cain, Chandler, Gunn and Corrigan, No Exit, The Go Devils and The Scott Pichard Band. He also sat in with a number of bands from the Tampa Bay area. Rock, country, jazz, blues, he played it all.

Also known for his keen sense of humor, he could put anyone at ease instantly, from his hilarious Halloween costumes to his never miss a beat, one liners. He had a knack for landscaping and owned a yard service that he worked part time. At one time he was a volunteer at Sarasota Radio Station WQSR 102 1/2 ComLine on their all request night.

He brought much joy and happiness to our family and his world of friends, fellow musicians and people who enjoyed his music as well as those he encountered daily.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline Prieto, step dad, Mike Prieto, of Bradenton, FL, brother, John Corrigan of Atlanta, GA, and step brother, Michael Prieto of Ogden, Utah. He is survived by his sister Lisa Corrigan of Sarasota, FL, nephew Shae Corrigan of Cape Coral, FL, half sister Melissa Corrigan of South Burlington, VT, half brother Seth Corrigan of San Francisco, CA, step sisters Liat Hart of Bradenton, Fl and Miki Wagner of Magnolia, MS, as well as, aunts, cousins and many close friends who loved him dearly.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, April 16, 2023, 2-6 pm, at The Island Community Center at 407 Magnolia Ave., Anna Maria, FL 34216.

Chris played a lot of benefits for others over the years, and now it's his turn. The memorial will feature Poppa Grump Band and Chuck Caudill, as well as a number of other fellow musicians who want to come celebrate his life. Special thanks to Nick Patsios, and Chuck Caudill, his dear friends, for organizing the memorial tribute. Any musicians that would like to be included, please contact Nick Patsios or Chuck Caudill.

I met Chris in my junior year at Baldwinsville Highschool, a small town near to Syracuse. Quickly became very good friends for the many reasons given above. I wish I had made an effort to get back in touch with him. Sure do miss him. See you on the other side Mami Bones.

Chris was a real sweet guy. I have many great memories of listening to him play the drums for The Hammerheads at Turtles. Those were the best times. Sending love and prayers to Chris's family.
