She was born Jan. 13, 1951, in St. Helens, Ore., to Jack and Betty Nesbitt, and graduated with the Rainier High School Class of 1969.

Chris worked for ARC for several years and as a purchasing agent for Longview Fibre Company. As a parent, she was active in PTA. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and daughter. A son, Doug Johnstun, preceded her in death.

A celebration of Chris' life will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 19 at Calvary Community Church with Pastor Galen Conrad officiating. A reception will follow at the AWPPW Hall.

Dear Riley,..it has taken me until today to write anything and I feel bad about that, Just hard to write a final goodbye...But with that being said I want you to know that we are so sorry for your loss,..but we are rejoicing too,..because we KNOW Chris is out of pain and whole.. Cancer is so hard to explain to people who haven't expierenced it,..all I can say is that it robs you of your life as you once knew it,..you are never the same and that can be some bad and some good..We won't be at Chris's memorial,..but you will be in my prayers all day long. She was a fun, loving, beautiful woman who I feel blessed to have met and spent time with. you were a wonderful husband to her..Love and prayers to the whole family, and to Chris,..See you later:)

Bringing out Christmas items, it's wonderful to cherish Chris's handmade items & share her Almond Pastries. It was so great to hug Chris at Jana & Diana's weddings. I'm sure she was comforted they had bachelors degrees & married. Chris was my sister-in-law 25 years. She had great spirit despite having Doug young, his accident & long suffering. I have a comforting vision of him waiting to usher her on. To Betty & Jack, Jana & Diana, the Hyatts, & all, please accept my condolances.

Dear Riley,

We were all saddened to hear about Chris leaving this life. Meeting you and Chris in Boardman, was a wonderful experience for not only Roger and myself, but also for Nikia and Connor. You both took us in as part of your Boardman family and shared both your beautiful motorhome and your family stories with us. Of course, Nikia's and Connor's favorite memories are riding the jet skis with you and Chris!
Chris was such a happy, loving and full of life person and she really filled the earth with her presence. It seems so unfair, that a person like her didn't get to live longer... This much be so difficult for you, but always try to remember, that although her earthly body has left you, her spirit and all that she has given you, will always be with you.
Much love and warm thoughts from all of us.

I had the pleasure of meeting Chris at Lfco and loved her like my sister. Chris, Mary and I were best friends, often going to the beach, shopping, drinking wine together and best of all for a short time I lived just across the street. I will treasure our memories forever, she truly was a beautiful person inside and out.

I first met Chris when she started working at Longview Fibre as a young single mother of a small son, Doug. We hit it off immediately and our friendship has held strong though all these years. She and I had many, many silly fun times together. Along with our friend Judy we spent many weekends at the beach raising hell and just having a good time, laughter was the main theme. I'll never forget the pranks we played on each other. Chris loved life....her son, her daughters and her darling granddaughter and will be deeply missed. I know there will be an empty spot in my life without her but she will always remain in my heart and thoughts. I loved her like a little sister and will never forget her dancing eyes and smile.

We met Chris in the Boardman RV and Marina Park. I didn't know she was fighting for her life at the time we met her. I thought "what a beautiful and fun woman" she was, and how "devoted, thoughtful and loving" she was to her husband Riley. I greatly admired her. I thought she was a "very beautiful person." We will greatly miss her next summer in Boardman. We look forward to seeing her at home in Heaven where there is no pain or suffering, when Jesus comes! Come Jesus Soon! Come! So we can be with our loved ones!

To the Family of "Chris",
I hadn't seen Chris is years until our 40th class reunion. We had lost contact through the years. But it was wonderful. We went pretty much through school our whole life. I'm so glad we were able to meet again. The awesome part was to know she was truly happy. It was the first time I had met "Her Riley", I could see after a few minutes she had married her match, how wonderful. Thank You Riley for taking care of your beautiful friend and ours.

Love To You All, Leona Zimmer

Riley, I have known Chris for a very long time. She was a beautiful young girl, 30 years ago, as we worked at Fibre together. She developed into a beautiful, happy woman as she met the man of her dreams; you were Chris' touch stone, and you should feel such immense happieness that you were the one chosen to take care of her in her time of need. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers in such a very trying time. Take care of yourself. Always, Bob and Margie McGee

My heart goes out to the family. Chris was a neighbor years ago and I also had the priveledge of working with her in our Fibre family of friends.I will always remember her for her soft spoken voice and her giggles. When she grinned it was from ear to ear. She was the kind of person everyone wanted as a friend. Losing a loved one is never easy and so hard to say goodbye. But, she is free of pain and suffering. Focus on all the beautiful memories she left behind and just know that she will walk lifes path with you each and every day.
Chris, until we meet again...
