Chris Magee

Joseph Christopher Magee, known to most as Chris, passed away on January 8, 2025, in Harrison, Tennessee, at the age of 73.

Born on November 11, 1951, in Savannah, Georgia, Chris was a graduate of Hershel V. Jenkins High School, class of 1969. He pursued higher education at Armstrong College in Savannah then Studied Landscape Architecture the University of Georgia in Athens. Computer Science became his professional love. He received multiple advanced degrees in CS from multiple colleges! Chris was very driven professionally once he found his field, computers.

Chris served his country with dedication in both the U.S. Marine Corps and the Georgia Army National Guard, where he completed six years of service. His time in uniform was a meaningful chapter in his life and one that demonstrated his sense of duty and resilience.

Among those who remember him are his sisters Connie Williams and Cathy (Phillip) McBrayer; Nieces April (Scott) Hall, Emily (Geoffrey) Christian, Meredith McBrayer Haynes; Nephews Michael Scott Williams and Matthew McBrayer (Tara). Grand-Nieces and Nephews: Katie Bullock-Christian, IsaBelle Christian, Autumn Hall, Dylan McBrayer; and Zoe Haynes. Grand-nephews Dublin McBrayer and Hollis Hall. He is also remembered by the closest of first cousins Arlynne (Cash) Striplin, Virginia "Ginny" Robinson, Kim (Larry) Gilbert, Sara Magee Jones, Margaret Magee, and Michael Magee. Others include Mary's three daughters and their families in Tennessee and Texas.

Chris's life was deeply shared by his wife Mary. Those who knew him best recall that from the moment they met until her passing, their time together marked the happiest period of his life.

A memorial gathering to honor Chris's life will be held on Friday May 16, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at The American Legion Post 135, located at 1108 Bull Street in Savannah, Georgia. Family and friends are invited to call mutual friends to join us, as we come together in remembrance.
