Dear Linda,
I am having geat difficulty in expressing my own grief with the loss of Chris - I can only imagine how it must feel for you and your family. Since hearing the news, I have been thinking about 'Mac' nonstop for the better part of a week and alternating between tears and smiles thinking of all the great times we spent growing up together. From the moment we met in grade 8 at Holy Cross, (way back in 1974) we became, and remained, dear friends and soul mates. We shared so many fun-filled adventures together I think I can put together enough material to fill a book. I fondly remember the years we were altar boys, played hockey together, the endless summer days we spent boating on the Rideau, snowmobiling on his usually not-too-sound machines during long winters, hanging out at the Scobie's Pool Hall and Howard Wilson's Garage, and our never-ending late-night capers around town. I will never forget Mac's smile, his twinkling, mischevious eyes, or his seemingly endless story telling. A piece of my heart will always belong to Mac (yes, guys can say that!) and I will never be able to think of my own teenage years without recalling his part of it. On the evening I heard of Mac's passing I toasted him with our favorite old drink, rye and coke. Somehow I think he would have had a smiled and appreciated the gesture. My entire family's thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
