Chriss Anthony Sperling

Mr. Chriss Anthony Sperling, 70, passed away on July 6, 2025, in Anderson, South Carolina. Born on June 1, 1955, in Shelby, North Carolina, Chriss lived a life marked by craftsmanship, generosity, and deep connections with those around him. Chriss attended Shelby High School and from a young age was drawn to the art of building. Taught by his father, Hugh Kenneth Sperling, he became a master carpenter during an era when homes were "stick built." Primarily building in the Charlotte NC area. In his later years, he lived and worked in Oakhurst, Texas. Over the decades, his skills evolved with the times, and he eventually specialized in constructing log homes across various regions of the United States. His work left a lasting mark not only through the structures he built but also through the many young men he mentored along the way. Chriss generously shared his knowledge and expertise in homebuilding, helping others find both skill and purpose in their own careers. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chriss was known for his warm heart and unwavering willingness to help others. Whether someone needed a job or simply a helping hand, Chriss was always there, steadfast and kind. He made an impression on every person he met and was cherished for his sincerity and generosity. Chriss found joy in simple pleasures-especially fishing and spending time with friends and family. These moments reflected his love for connection and nature, grounding him in what mattered most. He is survived by his mother, Jeanelle Anthony Sperling Melton; brothers Jack Sperling, Randy Sperling, and Scott Sperling; sisters Jean Miller, Ann Sperling, Lori Vreeland, Stacey Monroe, and Kimberly Nicholas; stepson Chad Privatte; grandson Wesley Trivette; as well as numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces who will carry forward memories of his kindness and strength. Chriss was preceded in death by his beloved wife Trudy Black Sperling; his son Blake Anthony Sperling; and his father Hugh Kenneth Sperling. May the memory of Mr. Chriss Anthony Sperling bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a reminder of a life lived with purpose and heart. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 05:00 PM at Walker Century Farm Pavilion 110 Walker Road, Anderson SC 29621. Visitation will begin 11 am, Service at 1pm followed by Lunch.
