Christa Sullivan Obituary
Beloved Wife, Mother, Oma, and Community Member
Christa Sullivan, beloved wife of the late Detective Patrick Sullivan and a pillar of strength and grace to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born on December 14, 1940, Christa immigrated to the United States from Germany as a young girl, bringing with her the resilience and compassion that would come to define her life. She found love in the most serendipitous of places-while working at St. Mary's Hospital, she met a hardworking dishwasher who would go on to become her husband, a respected detective, and her lifelong partner.
Christa was a devoted mother to Stephanie, Kevin with his wife Orla, Christian with his wife Karen, and Mary Ann, and the proud and adoring Oma to Mick, Leah, Casey, Caeli, and Patrick. Her unwavering support and love shaped the lives of her children and grandchildren, each of whom carries forward her legacy of warmth and strength.
A longtime volunteer at St. Veronica's Parish and both Mercy and Serra High Schools, Christa gave her time generously and wholeheartedly. Her commitment to the community was especially evident in her steadfast support of the South San Francisco Police Department-from the founding of their association through today, Christa remained their most faithful advocate.
She was also known for her deep love of animals and extended her compassion to every living being she encountered.
Family and friends are invited to a Visitation on Wednesday, July 23rd, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Garden Chapel in South San Francisco. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 24th at 1:00 PM at Saint Agnes Church in San Francisco, followed by a Celebration of Life at Molloy's Tavern in South San Francisco from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
In remembering Christa, we honor a life rooted in love, service, and quiet faith. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to be loved by her.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to our local Peninsula Humane Society or Best Friends Animal Society.

Dear Sullivan Family
Our deepest condolences in the loss of your beloved mom. Christa was such a force and one of the most nurturing and caring people we knew. Her love and adoration for her children, grandchildren, family and friends was so strong and beautiful and such a gift to all those who received it. Christa was so proud of you all and always lite up whenever she spoke of any of you. May all the beautiful memories you have of your mom help you through the days to come and may you lean on each other for support. God bless Christa who is with her true love, Pat. Dear Sullivan Family, I know there are no words that can ease your pain in the loss of your Mother/Grand Mother. My heart goes out to you [all]. I hope with the passing of time, you'll be able to focus on all the wonderful memories you experience with this great, benevolent woman... I have fond memories, as a rookie Police Officer, working with your Father, always being welcomed to a family dinner; during the holiday seasons, Pat and Christa would always host dinner [a huge spread] for those officers working on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Christa was special!
