Christina Cantillo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 6, 2024.
Christina Marie Cantillo (Polito), known affectionately to those closest to her as Chrissy, departed this earthly life on December 3, 2024, at the age of 36. Born and raised in the historic city of Boston, Massachusetts, Christina's presence was a beacon of creativity and artistic passion, her love for music, theatre, and drawing brightening the lives of all who knew her.

Christina is survived by a loving family: her father, Douglas Polito and his partner Corrinne of Fort McCoy, FL; her sister, Michelle Kirchofer and her husband Greg of Rochester, NH; her brother, Steven Rutherford and his wife Shalyn of Farmington, NH; her grandmother, Lottie Rutherford of Mansfield, MA; her cherished nieces and nephews-Riley, Carter, Cambree, Gavin, Lorelai, Tristyn and Kalliope; as well as her devoted partner, Ryan Levia of Canton, MA. Chrissy is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

She now joins in eternal rest her mother, Diane Polito; her late husband, Dominic Cantillo III; grandmother, Lois Polito; grandfathers, Chester Rutherford and Richard O. Polito.

A graduate of the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton, MA, Christina exemplified strength and determination in every endeavor she pursued. She touched many hearts with her creative expressions and maintained a vibrant spirit throughout her life.

The family will hold a service to celebrate Christina's life on a date to be determined. They request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation of MetroBoston-an organization that was very close to Christina's heart. Donations can be made through their website at https://www.ucpboston.org.

The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at MGH Boston's Ellison 14 Unit for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Christina over the past year.

Arrangements for Christina's services are entrusted to Boston Cremation of Malden, MA. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all those whose lives she touched.

Another memory I just thought of happened two weeks ago, I went with Michelle and her two kids and there was a song they like to sing and wanted to sing for her. When they started Christina knew the song and they were all singing, it was so sweet and I got part of it on video, I missed the first few min but so glad I thought to pull out my phone.

I think for me it was a few months ago, I went with Michelle to visit Chrissy and she was finally allowed to have some food, she asked Michelle to order her a sandwich and a salad, I have never seen anyone so happy to see a salad in my life, she was glowing. While it was heartbreaking to see her want that so bad, it was also the sweetest moment, just watching her be so happy to have that. That´s how I will always remember her, glowing and smiling, it was such a beautiful moment.
