Christina O'Brien Obituary

Christina Ruthe O'Brien
April 15, 1989 - November 21, 2018

Christina O'Brien, 29, passed away unexpectedly on November 21, 2018 in Phoenix Arizona. Christy was born in Phoenix, Arizona on April 15, 1989 to Raymond J. and Lynne Marie (nee Coulson) O'Brien. Her mother remarried in 1991 to Hal Korff, who became Christina's loving and devoted father. Christina graduated from Moon Valley High School in Phoenix in 2006.

Christina attended Glendale Community College, Rio Salado, and most recently Mesa Community College while working toward a college degree. While in school she worked full time as a cook, like at Arizona Grill and as a Sous-Chef at Whiskey Row in Mesa. Christy moved back to Phoenix in early October where she cooked at Lucky Strike in downtown Phoenix.

In some circles Christy was known as as a Sidewalk Chiller, other circles as Christy OB, and at work was sometimes referred to as "The Beast" for the way she worked circles around her co-workers. One manager commented they were able to forego hiring three other new employees when they saw how quickly and accurately Christy did her job.

Christy will always be fondly remembered for her zany antics, infectious laughter, jello wrestling prowess, beer pong challenges, her pterodactyl impersonation, and an uncanny ability to light up a room with her presence. She was genuine and encouraged everyone else to be themselves, and to stand up for their right to be themselves.

Christy was upbeat and seldom complained although she suffered from a severe case of sciatica. She cared deeply for her many, many friends who she encountered in all walks of life. She was never happier than when she spent time with her "besties". She offered her friends all she had -- be it food, a place to stay, kind words, a broad shoulder to cry on, courage, protection, sage advice, or big cuddly hugs. Christy also loved spending time with her friends children, although she had no children of her own.

Christina was preceded in death by her brother, Timothy O'Brien, her nephew, Carter Wojahn, her father, Raymond J. O'Brien, her grandparents Carl Lewis and Patricia Anne Wojahn and many furry feline friends including Domino, Shade, Simba and Zorro.

Christina is survived by her mother, Lynne M. Korff, her sibling, Michael P. O'Brien, her uncles Richard C. Wojahn and Donald H. Wojahn, cousins Katie, Chelsie, Frank and Lance Wojahn and more furry friends named Taz, Princess, and Rosie.

A Remembering Christy gathering was held December 3, 2018 and a Celebration of Life event was held December 16, 2018. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Humane Society in Christina's name. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.advantagefunerals.com for the Korff, O'Brien, and Wojahn families.
