Christine Cole Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 24, 2025.
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our precious mother and grandmother, Christine A. Cole (Cook), of Hillsdale, Michigan. She went with our Lord Jesus unexpectedly on Friday, March 21, 2025, at age 77. She was a pillar of strength to our family. She was always there when we needed her, offering incredible support and wisdom. She instilled lessons of unconditional love, perseverance, and unwavering faith in all of us. She had the best sense of humor. Our silly inside jokes and laughing "until our bellies hurt" are memories we will cherish forever.

She was born to Laverne J.D. and Florence M. (Stump) Cook on October 1, 1947, and had a deep love for the Lord from an early age. She was a woman of immense faith, continually praying over her family and friends. She led many to the Lord in her lifetime. She attended City Church of Hillsdale.

Chris was married for 45 years to her soulmate and our beloved father, James M. Cole Sr., who preceded her in death only 10 months ago. They were married on February 16, 1979. She will be deeply missed by their children James Cole Jr., Kristal (Larry) Johnson, Robin (Ray) Sanchez, and Jennifer (Jay) Davison, their 26 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren (with their 39th due soon), and her eldest brother, Jerry (Darlene) Cook. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, a daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter.

She graduated from Reading High School in 1965. Her continued education led her into nursing, where she spent most of her career sharing her passion for caring for the elderly. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a fun-loving soul, who cared deeply and loved fiercely. Though our hearts ache with grief and our world feels incomplete without her, we are forever grateful for the profound impact she had on all our lives. We find comfort knowing she is now walking with the Lord and is reunited with the love of her life.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled at City Church of Hillsdale on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Visitation will be from 11 am to 12 pm, with a service held immediately following at 12 pm. Per her request, Chris has been cremated.

I can see your smile and hear your giggle as you enjoy your New Home! You made us all feel special and important like we were your family. Going to Trinidad with you was a highlight in my life. Watching you pray and minister with love and compassion; even to those possessed. You were fearless Chris. I learned unconditional acceptance and love from you. Dance for me. Give Gem a big smooch. I will see you again.

Chris was a strong woman of faith and although we lost touch over the last several years I will always hold our times together close to my heart.
We spent many hours praying for our families alongside Ruth and Annette. Those are precious memories and I am forever grateful for the time I had with her.

Chris and I go way back to early teens. We were 14 & 15 in Jack and Miriam's wedding. We were adopted sisters. Lots of laughs. We were riding in my parents trailer from Hillsdale to Angola before the wedding, going through the back roads. We were laughing so hard with every bump, until we both were feeling "green" with all the motions. We were knocking on the window, putting up signs, we wanted out, but no one paid attention to us. We staggered out after the destination, both dizzy, icky, but laughing so hard---What fun. She was a hoot, we had great times. She was helping hold me up with the loss of Dave, then Miriam just before she went to Heaven. What a shock. I'll miss her like crazy. What a reunion she has with all those already there, then being face to face with Jesus--Wow. My heart and prayers go out to all of you, she was an earth angel for sure

2 Corinthians 5:8
Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
As a young boy, you were like an aunt to me ... with Jesus there is no goodbye so I'll say, "Until we meet again."

Words will not fully express this in life when one who touch your heart takes the next step in their journey.

Chris had a faith that would not be altered by what ever seemed impossible.

I truly will miss both her and Jim, yet they now spend an eternity holding to each other.
