Ms. Fruzza was my 12th grade English teacher in 1991-92 and subsequently my college professor in the alternative certification program at WCCUSD / CSU East Bay in 2004. Finding myself between jobs and a crossroads of my career plans I saw an ad in the West County Times soliciting folks who could simultaneously teach and earn their credential. Imagine my surprise as I saw Chris at the orientation. Something went right because I'm still teaching 20+ years later... at Pinole Valley High, no less.
I appreciated Chris's expertise and infectious love of teaching. She never talked down to her students. Her infectious laugh and sense of humor made her classes fun to attend. She loved a good story, and don't leave out the good parts!
One thing that really stands out is how difficult it was for me to call her, "Chris" instead of Ms. Fruzza, even after she invited me to address her by the first name. I always thought of her as my high school teacher even though I'd graduated more than a decade previous at the time. She taught me writing skills I still use to this day. I even remember most of the books she assigned us to read that year, many of which remain favorites (MacBeth, This Boy's Life, A Doll's House, etc.)
May her memory be for a blessing.

Chris was my teaching buddy. She gave common sense advice with a laugh. I continue to appreciate her efforts at the bargaining table with UTR and the WCCUSD. My sincere condolences to her family.

Mrs. Fruzza is one of my all-time favorite teachers. I grew up with Carey & had Mrs. Fruzza as my high school English teacher. I learned so much from her. She helped me become a confident, skilled writer. I have no doubt that her calm, understanding way of treating her students, shaped the kind of teacher I am today.
I'm so sorry for your loss Fruzza Family. I'm sending all of you love & support as you deal with the loss of this amazing woman.

Chris was the ultimate Aunt! Aside from always being upbeat with a radiant smile she didn't have a superficial bone in her body and I loved that so much about her. She wasn't afraid to share her opinions, and she had strong opinions. Lucky for me I shared many values as she did when it came to education, human rights, civil rights womens rights etc etc. I always looked forward to seeing her and my uncle Frank! It goes without saying that whomever decided it was "her time" made a big mistake! Our extended family, and the whole world actually, wanted more time with Chris. What we all loved about Chris is that she was so curious and intrested in our lives. She always was ready to question me about what I was up to and my wife and kids too, she wanted to know everything she could about our lives. Her heart and love was that large. She took us all into her life with curiousity about our stories. Our love goes out to Frank and their children and grandchildren and everyone who loved Chris and is struggling with acceptance.

Mrs Fruzza was the best. She had the biggest heart. As one of her students she always went above & beyond for me as I struggled in class. One of the reason I am Successful in life today is cause of her. She never gave up on me & I will always make her proud. May she Rest In Peace. Thank you for all your dedication & hard work.
