Christopher David Arnspiger

Christopher David Arnspiger passed away August 16, 2023 in Houston, Texas. A proud native Houstonian, Chris was born June 28, 1959 to Marian McFall Arnspiger and Samuel David Arnspiger. He grew up in "Briargrove, Texas" with his sisters Allison and Adrian and a beagle named Baron DeRochemont, who was the toast (though some may say scandal) of the neighborhood. Chris was a 1978 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Houston and a proud 1981 graduate and football booster for Texas Christian University.

Growing up, Chris loved painting, swimming, basketball, cars and his ten-speed Schwinn, but martial arts became the passion of his life. He earned five black belts in multiple disciplines over his lifetime, from Tae Kwan Do to Kuk Sool Won. Chris was a talented artist, whose oil paintings were expressive and evocative. As a swimmer, Chris dominated butterfly competitions and held the butterfly record at Camp Longhorn for many years.

Chris's career began at the Municipal Advisory Council of Texas and continued in securities, investments and banking. He was a staunch advocate of investing and loved to advise his friends and family about their stock portfolios.

Chris is survived by his sisters Allison Bailey of Houston and Adrian Buchanan of Austin, his brothers-in-law N. Joseph Bailey and Trey Buchanan, his nephews Joe (Alice) Bailey and Chris (Regan) Bailey of Houston, Matthew, Duncan, and Douglas Buchanan of Austin, as well as great-nieces Virginia Bailey, Isla Finn Bailey, Charlotte Bailey and great-nephew Teddy Bailey, all of Houston. Chris is also survived by his beloved Yorkie, Botticelli.

Chris will be remembered for his honest and true spirit, his uproarious sense of humor and contagious laugh and his big heart and boundless love for his family.

A memorial service and celebration of Chris's life will be held at noon, Friday, September 15, 2023 in Christ Chapel at St. Martin's Episcopal Church.
