Christopher Steven "Chris" Barker

Christopher Steven Barker, 56, of Vinton, Virginia, died on Thursday, January 26, 2023.

He was born on January 25, 1967, in Charleston Memorial Hospital in Charleston, West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Patricia Barker and is survived by his father, Kenneth (Nancy) Barker of Tennessee; his sister, Briana Barker of Virginia; brother, Eric (Tammi) Barker of Ohio; aunt, Jane (Wayne) Holbert of West Virginia; niece, Ashley (Joe) Callihan; nephew, Andrew (Marlo) Barker; his girlfriend, Leigh Ogle; his faithful German Shorthair Pointer, Rio; and his former wife, Lisha Barker.

He grew up in Mogadore, Ohio where he completed his primary education. He attended classes at the University of Akron and West Virginia University. Chris received his bachelor's degree from The University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He worked for many years as a chemist at Elizabeth Arden, however, for the past several years he worked remodeling homes for Herb Smith Inc.

Chris had special interests in trout fishing, scuba diving, and spending time with his beloved German Shorthair Pointer, Rio. He enjoyed fly fishing in the Holston River in Bristol, Tennessee, the White River in Arkansas, and the Elk River in West Virginia. Chris also enjoyed scuba diving at various shipwrecks.
