Dear Chris Barnes: the 'Caliph' from Kismet (1976) and a friend who was by my side through the worst times. His huge personality was matched only by his loving heart, his gift of music, his artistry and always, his laughter. RIP dear friend.

Many happy memories of sitting round the table in Hamilton playing scrabble, laughing, singing and eating your delicious food. Wonderful, sharp as a tack wit and stories that made our sides ache with laughing. Go well Chris.

Dearest Chris I was fortunate to meet you when you were doing my friend Teresa's wedding flowers - I am so glad I did, we had an instant connection and lots of great conversations after that - I will value your sound advice on arranging flowers just as I will always treasure the amazing black leather flowers I have from you. It was truly an honour meeting you and you will never be forgotten - how could I ever forget your hilarious stories. Rest in peace dearest man God bless ❤

Christy David we first met when you came to Petals to train as a florist ,but you became so much more than that a part of our lives a part of our children's lives they loved your baby sitting and shopping! So glad I went to visit before moving to Australia, so many happy memories of you, your amazing singing in the back of Petals, the delish chocolates you always bought back for us from Napier, taking me shopping for my first bikini, your beautiful Ching-like art work. So sad to hear of your passing before I could back to visit again. Love you heaps.

Passed away suddenly at his home in Wellington (formerly of Hamilton) on 16 August 2016. Son of the late Ngaire, brother of the late Diane, uncle of Tony, Ross, Paul and their families. A private farewell has been held. Any communication may be sent to T Redfern, 2 Carolyn Place, Hamilton.
