Kit Bond was always fair. He was a big help to farmers when we fell victim to the 1993 flood. We will always remember that he truly cared. Harris and Nancy Guyton

In September 1973 I was living on the street, but had a job delivering office furniture and equipment. During a heavy snowstorm I had to wait to unload a shipment. So I wrote a letter to Governor Kit Bond. I was 30, he was 33. I told him I needed a better job in order to afford an apartment. He answered, and told me he was forwarding my letter to the Department of Revenue. After 4 interviews, 2 in St. Louis and 2 in Jefferson City, I was hired as an auditor. I did not have a college degree. Within 3 years I became a supervisor. I forever thank Mr. Bond. May he rest in peace. Condolences to his family.
