Christopher Boyles Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 15, 2025.
Christopher Leo Boyles, lovingly known as Chris, passed away at 4:20 PM on January 8, 2025, at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was surrounded by many of his loved ones as he peacefully entered the loving arms of Jesus.

Chris was born on February 15, 1961, in Portland, Oregon, to Gene Clifford and Joanne Claire Boyles. After graduating from Medical Lake High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, Chris started dating Janie Wells and they married shortly after. They were young and in love and had many fond memories together. Chris than began a career at Eastern State Hospital, where he met Michelle Coleman. During their marriage, they welcomed their beloved daughter, Shelby. Later in life, Chris moved to Helena, Montana, with Rebecca Karlson to help care for her ailing father.

Chris had a zest for life and a love for music, especially the Beatles. A talented guitarist, he played with the 3rd Street Band at Marysville picnics and attended countless concerts over the years. His hobbies included muscle cars, outdoor adventures, and treasure hunting with his grandson. These moments-whether four-wheeling or finding geodes-were cherished highlights of his life. Above all else, Chris adored his daughter Shelby and grandchildren Grayson and Renae. Becoming a grandfather brought him immense joy and fulfillment.

Chris worked in various roles throughout his life in Helena, including at 4Js, Nickels Casino, and the Marysville House. He briefly worked as a traveling medical equipment specialist before his illness. Despite battling CLL and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (Richter's transformation), Chris faced every challenge with courage and positivity, even when it seemed impossible to do so.

Chris fought all the way to the end, but when he knew it was time, he bravely let go.

Chris was proceeded in death by his parents Gene and Joanne Boyles; brother-in-law Paul Whitten; aunts and uncles Ed Johnson, Dorothy Nolan, Patricia Goldade, and Mary Lyons; and cousins Tina and Tim.

He is survived by his daughter Shelby Johnston; his favorite son-in-law Matthew Johnston; grandchildren Grayson and Renae; siblings Mary Whitten-Boyles, Daniel Boyles, Bob (Pam) Boyles, Shawn Boyles, Teri Presnell, and Tami Adams; niece Cassie Whitten; nephews Nathan Heyer, Conner Whitten, Cayden Whitten, and Ryan Boyles; uncle Bob Lyons; cousins Terry, Tracy, Toni, Tammy, Todd, Ed, Vic, Dave, Tricia, Andy, Kelly, and Derrick; stepdaughter Carli Karlson; "bonus mom" Mary Johnson; "bonus brothers" Stanley Johnson, Jason Black, and William Christensen; and "bonus sisters" Pharelon Johnson and Tracey Black.

At Chris's request, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Chris's laughter was infectious and his bear hugs unforgettable. He radiated love to everyone he met and left an indelible mark on all who crossed his path. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.

Remember to close the wagon door before backing up, could be a tree next to you. That silver dollar on the steering wheel is for looks; not gas. Grade school, Middle school and "High" school. So many memories, good and bad. We will catch up soon. Love ya and miss ya Baggins.

So many good times shared, Landers Fork, Dearborn and Missouri River floats, rock hounding, and those rowdy games of Aggravation. Hearing "hey family", "hey babes", and those hugs. Miss you so much already. I´ll never spark one up again without thinking of you.

The world shines less brightly with the loss of Chris.
So blessed to have been his friend/sister for the last 15 years.
He was a beautiful soul and will be so very missed.
If you didn´t get the chance to meet him, you missed out.

We had a spectacular gathering at our place in Marysville where the 3rd Street band played one afternoon on our patio. The street was packed people brought lawn chairs sat in the road listening to them playing while -bqs were blazing with food people brought to feed anyone as we sat in awe as they played all day. It was truly a treat for all of us. We can't say how much he will be missed, thanks for all the memories. Peace to you and your family.
